Save me from Telstra

After several attempts over several days to sort out my account on line (waiting, waiting) I drove 40 km to the Telstra shop today. They couldn’t talk to me, I should have made an appointment on line. But they had another shop about 5km away which is less busy (they said) so I drove there. Same story, no appointments available today. So I drove hame, very angry. I am a Customer. I am now looking for an alternative provider who can do NBN, phone, iPad etc and who wants customers.

You're not Robinson Crusoe. At least your drive is only 40 kms, mines 75. Before they introduced this appointment system, the customer service was acceptable, but now??????? How do you book an appintment?

Crap customer service is the norm nowadays. CentreLink is a prime example. You wait 45 minutes listening to On Hold music and numerous apologies for the delay, only to be cut off because it is home time. Ring again tomorrow for more of the same.

 

I rang our local medical centre on Saturday for an appointment. I had checked their website and knew that there were no appointments available, and only 1 doctor would be available Sunday. I listened to their damned On Hold music for 9 minutes (I looked at the iPhone to check how long I had waited), before being answered by the receptionist.

 

Called into the local Westpac to deliver a document. "Do you have an appointment?" "No." "Well, there's none availbale today, I can give you one for 10:30 tomorrow."

I'm with Boost. They use the Telstra network. Never had any problem with them in over 2 years, but that means I also have no idea what their customer service is like, when things go wrong. They're much cheaper than Telstra.

But, those other dealers will still sell you an Optus or other carrier

Phone " knowing from your address " , that , when home your phone

Is useless,  as only Telstra is the only carrier .

I made the mistake of going over to Iinet for one month last year, for my mobile, when Boost ramped up the 12 mth recharge cost - because Iinet always used Telstra. However, I wasn't aware that when TPG bought up Iinet, they changed over to Vodaphone for mobile services.

Iinet offered a great deal - but when I drove out of town, the phone service virtually vanished! Vodaphone only service highly populated areas. I couldn't get back to Boost fast enough.

As it was, I engineered a major discount on Boost when I renewed with them, because they were offering discounts for new customers - but not for current ones! Just the move to Iinet for a month, meant I was a new Boost customer again, and I scored the discount deal for a 12 mth plan!

Vodaphone is a UK brand and, of the 4 mobiles I fund, only one of them is Vodaphone; and once that expires, it is a PIK code and change to another network Expensive and many of the features I get with the others are extras (so we don't use them). I took them because their coverage was supposed to be better, but in the areas we frequent, it is often worse than the other we use.

Unusually for a rural town, I can usually get an appointment with my GP within a day or two of asking for one. Since my visits are mainly for scripts, I can make appointments ahead of time and when that time suits me.

That's efficient for a busy medical practice, where the doctor knows the patient every well, but I believe that it could be illegal to not confirm that the prescribed medicine is correct. The problem is that the patient does not have their medications reviewed for a long time and what worked long ago might not be working now.

Very true,  the receptionist do recognise the wife & I .

Plus we are regulars there . LoL

The daughter works at a different Dr clinic .

So whenever we see the Dr ., the daughter knows what questions to ask & what those " Dr speak " words mean .

Most " MRI's are expensive.  So the 'specialist' MRI referral was dumped to get a much cheaper Dr's referral.  Saved $ 300 on the original referral  .

I actually got a personal call from my GP at 5:20PM yesterday afternoon! I did a blood test earlier in the week, and the sample was split as I had 3 referrals, two from my GP and one from my urologist. The GP wanted a general blood test to check on how I'm going in the areas of circulatory health, and the urologist wanted a test for PSA, as I have an appointment with him in a month. 

The GP called me because he'd sighted all the test results and my PSA has gone up substantially since the last test, last year. He was checking to see if I was seeing my urologist soon! I advised him that was the case, and no doubt I'll find out a lot more when I visit the urologist. I reckon he's itching to take to my prostate with his fancy snipping devices - he told me last time I have a benign tumour that we need to watch, but it appears it might be starting to really act up. :thumb down:

Good  luck. Always get a second opinion . The urologists are always keen to start biopsies. I ended up with BPH and a PSA of 13 OTA static for years..  I  Never did the Biopsy and stayed with a highly recommended Oncologist. who eventually terminated my visits as he said I had NO cancer.. Talk to  your GP and discuss that .I can't see how you can be worse off..  Nev
