He is part of "cousin Donald's" security contingent. Now they can't even criticise Trump as a threat to Democracy and would-be dictator as they did before without being accused of inciting violence, especially if Trump changes his tune and starts preaching about the need for unity as he seems to be planning for his Convention speech. Joe's job suddenly got a lot harder, and whether or not he steps aside for Kamala Harris or someone else probably won't make much difference at this point. Apparently this JD Vance must have once had half a brain because in 2016 he called Trump an "idiot" and "America's Hitler", but somewhere in the last 8 years he lost it. We know that workers in the USA don't have the job security protections that we have, so it is an impossibility here, but not so in the USA. The next consequence of sacking current staff is that all their experience would be lost, which would cause the administration of the government to do a crash stop. I'm not talking about upper level administrative staff, I am looking at the staff who do the little tasks that make a government department run. For example, I recently had to change some details on my car's E-tag. I went to the appropriate place (Service NSW) and the first person coming to my assistance wasn't experienced in what was needed to be done, but called on a colleague who whizzed through the process while showing the first person what needed to be done. If that second person wasn't there, my need would not have been met. It doesn't take much to bring a complex machine or organisation to a standstill.
