Re: The Artificial Intelligence revolution....

I am ok with the concept in general, as a tech development. It's  cool and has great potential in many ways.

My concern is the fact that it is already being used for the evil purpose of manipulation of the masses. And there is no way to regulate it's use.

Such stuff as deepfakes and blatant political (and profitmaking commercial) misuse.

This has already shown that it is a rapid, highly believable level of reaching the masses. And of interfering with their minds.

It's Faster, more believable, and harder to debunk than the older methods of communication and propaganda.

In our new world of dangeroudly divided societies, we really don't need this added confusion.

I dunno why you blokes are replying to a blatant spammer in the form of wasimtariq323.

Your alert report has been noted. Like Jerry, I found no overt advertising, just a link one could follow if one wanted to do so. I suggested that that this one goes through to teh keeper, but that an eye is kept out for anything further that is spam.

OME, I beg to differ. The user wasimtariq323 has joined for no other purpose than spamming. These people put up a first seemingly innocuous post which has all the hallmarks of being written by ChatGPT, and which post shows no "humanity" or personal touches to the posting. Then they continue to lurk, so they can spam and possibly indulge in misinformation later.

The post doesn't past the "genuineness" test, based on my tuned internet instincts, developed from 25 years of forum use, during which I've come into contact with nearly every variety of spammer, scammer, troublemaker, attention-seeker, and even several Aspergers Syndrome users. Today we have to deal with increasingly devious misinformation spammers, and we have to stay alert.

Your assessment has a great deal of validity. I agree that it has the usual link, typical of spam, but it wasn't overt. You are probably correct in saying that the post was created using AI. However, I formed the opinion that the content of the post was in line with the discussion. It has resulted in replies addressing the topic by respected members.

I suggest we keep an eye on future posts and if the line is crossed, then it only takes one click to out the person (?) as a spammer and ban further posts.
