I've been saying for some time that parents should be held responsible for not keeping control of their teenagers. The softly softly method just doesn't work.

I thought the bible said Spare the rod and(you) spoil the child. Another part says it's OK to eat them. I guess doing that would make sure they don't misbehave..  Nev

I agree that the baseball bat would sure come to my mind in the circumstances described... but, being scientific about minimising the chances of that happening, it may well be that a softer approach is the best. Yes, the desire for retribution is powerful, as anybody who cheered on the hero  in "taken" while he tortured the perps would agree. Personally, I would tie them to a tree, using fencing wire,  ( out of earshot of anybody ) for a few days before beginning my questions, but this is just a fantasy which I hope will never happen.

Getting back to torture, what if you really needed info urgently, say to save a daughter's life, and you had the perp who knew in your hands? I would personally say " go ahead",even though in most cases, I am very much against torture.

The threat of boiling water on the privates.

Generally speaking, that Captain's pick is a Major escalation.  Corporal punishment.  The rank would file a protest.

I've got a new phone for the upcoming 3G shutdown. It drives me batty with the spell check thing. I haven't found out how to disable it yet.

Nobody likes the Commissioned Officers.

My auntie was one but only because all nurses were commissioned by that stage of the war. When my dad caught up with her on his first leave he said he didn't know whether to kiss her or salute her.
