old man emu Posted November 10 Posted November 10 It's pretty clear that we are going to be hearing of a lot of decisions that Trump and his associates will be making pretty soon. So I reckon it might be an idea to collect them in one place. Here's the first one I've heard of. Trump to impose 200% tariff on John Deere products manufactured in Mexico. The basis of Trump's decision is that by moving production to Mexico, John Deere is removing jobs from the USA. John Deere's decision is based on the bottom line. This despie John Deere being a massively profitable company already. Also at the moment John Deere is embroiled in a number of consumer initiated civil suits arising from its refusal to release fixes for software bugs in its vehicle operating systems. If something controlled by the software glitches, John Deere technicians are the only ones who have the digital keys to get into the software to debug it. Imagine being in the middle of harvesting many thousands of hectares of crop and you can't continue because you have to wait for a technician to travel from a depot out to the machine in the field. Not only are you up for the cost of the service call, but you lose due to down time. 2

willedoo Posted November 10 Posted November 10 There's long been a certain amount of overseas production for some U.S. machinery companies. I drove a John Deere 3130 tractor that was a 1970's production made in Germany. From memory the JD engines they made were made in France. I've also driven a Cat D7G, 1970's vintage that was made in Japan and a D8H 22A, 1960's vintage made in the U.K. I wonder what he will do with tariffs on U.S. goods made overseas in general. Guitar manufacturers like Fender and Gretsch both have their more expensive, higher quality models made in the U.S. and cheaper models made elsewhere. Tariffs can hurt a lot of consumers in that field. Basically there would be no cheaper lines available and a big part of their trade would evaporate and it would be a situation of tariffs bankrupting American companies. 1
old man emu Posted November 10 Author Posted November 10 I think that this video would be useful in this thread. I got the impression that it was a balanced explanation.
Jerry_Atrick Posted November 10 Posted November 10 I heard on Triple M early morning AESuT, from an Aussie correspondent in the US, that the likly offer to Zelensky will be for the Eastern 20% of Ukraine (inc Crimea) to be given to Russia, and a DMZ to be set up as well as Ukraine become a nuetral country (i,.e. can't join any military alliance). I am guessing Triple-M will release the Luke Bono show on a podcast so you may be able to find it. If it is the case, then Biden should say here's the cash/weapons - go hell for leather for 2 months and see how you go. 1
nomadpete Posted November 10 Posted November 10 There you go, trying to apply logic to american politics. 1
nomadpete Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Applying logic to american politics is as futile as hoping for a predictable outcome when applying logic to a partner's choices. 1 1

old man emu Posted November 10 Author Posted November 10 Not depressed. More 'forewarned is forearmed'. We oldies might be able to tough it out, but it does not bode well for our kids and grandkids. 1
Jerry_Atrick Posted November 10 Posted November 10 We had a decent inversion about 2 years ago.. Spooked the markets for about a day and all returned to normal. You can be your bottom dollar a recession is coming.. and maybe a depression.. just can't work out when. 1
onetrack Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Meanwhile, cryptocurrencies will boom under Trump, and the Wall-building construction companies will be clinking the champagne glasses.
facthunter Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Aren't Tesla's made in China. Where are TRUMP watches made? The problem is as Trump said (There aren't many Geniuses in the USA). Now THAT comes straight from the Horses RS, er, I mean Mouth. Nev 1
Marty_d Posted November 11 Posted November 11 Well the average IQ in the White house is going to plummet on 20th January. 2
facthunter Posted November 11 Posted November 11 Soon to be occupied by the Orange U tan with apologies to the Original Man of the Forest. Of ALL the Possibilities and choices People Allowed this take over by someone who you have NO IDEA what way HE will do things. Destroy from within. Oh how easy IT was. . Trump says HIS IQ is 150. but that fact has never been shown. I think it's a self assessment. from the Highest Authority. Nev 1 1
facthunter Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Maybe some of his more rusted on worshippers will spring to his defence and FIX those who would be opposed to some of his more extreme actions. WE may have a GOD-KING on our hands now and a pile of heavily armed NUTTERS to form the PALACE GUARDS. Nev 1
onetrack Posted November 12 Posted November 12 I can see where armed groups of MAGA supporters will try to enforce the removal of illegal aliens, on the basis that they're "patriotic Americans" - which could result in bloodshed if the aliens fight back. Just the term "patriotic American" is enough to produce a visual image of an armed MAGA adherent spouting hatred and divisiveness. I wonder how long before all the Jan 6 rioters are released from jail? That was a Trump promise that he really can carry out. Some of his other promises are just in his imagination. 1

Jerry_Atrick Posted November 13 Posted November 13 I can only copy one link from the FT, but Skumbag was only wanting to get into the Whitehouse to boost his own wealth - we all know that. But one thing I didn't think of was this: https://on.ft.com/48NWrVG I am only allowed to share one link every two weeks or thereabouts, but there was another chilling article, that was basically saying, with the Supreme court ruling the president could be absolved of almost all criminal liability during office, strap in folks, it is going to be a chilling ride. 1
Marty_d Posted November 13 Posted November 13 (edited) Not only that but there's a change the arsehole could choose up to 5 supreme court judges during his term. Watch it go even further to the hardline conservatives. I'd hate to be a woman in the US. Already some misogynistic arseholes are saying stuff like "your body - my choice" on social media. I do feel really bad for anyone who voted for Kamala. For the rest though, they made their bed. (Or as Joh Bjelke-Peterson - Australia's nearest Trump equivalent - said, "You cooked your goose - now you have to lie in it".) Edited November 13 by Marty_d
red750 Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Democrats have been advised to load the SCA with as many judges as possible, which Trump cannot remove. He's hopingto have the 34 felony charges cancelled, even though they are state charges, not federal. The Constitution says you cannot be elected President if have defaulted on debts or are a convicted felon. He is both. He has appointed a number of Fox News personalities to senior cabinet positions.
