we should up the rent on his military bases here,

That might be interesting.

Has any country managed to evict the yanks, once they set up camp?

Probably correct, but that's a bit like being repeatedly hit over the head with a wet fish and ignoring the smell.

No it isn't.

It's just choosing to ignore the meaningless background noise.

Besides that, a wet fish is something that I can do something about.

If you don't think about it , It will go away is not correct. One person doesn't often change things where Many like minded ones can achieve  changes. R soles don't live forever. Time wounds ALL heels.  Nev

Totally agree. I'm saying that at present I refuse to waste my energy on meaningless BS that issues from DJT. Of course the problems will only get worse - after January.

Meanwhile I keep only a mild awareness of his many claims during the leadup to his official start as president, because  his word is so unreliable.

After January,  we will all need awareness and rational analysis to understand the extent of what he does, and the implications that ripple out from them.

A great proposition. But I don't share your optism.

Even if the whole Australian population was likeminded and didn't like any particlar USA policy or decision, do you really believe WE could change it?

The mouse cannot roar.

Trump's just been named Time Magazine Person of the Year - `for better or for worse' according to the fine print. I'm sure he thinks it's a great image, and so it is because it shows exactly who he is - arrogant, egotistical and empty.

Bear in mind that (according to Wikki), Time is not highlighting the man's quality. But neither he, nor his followers understand that......

"The distinction is supposed to go to the person who, "for good or ill", has most affected the course of the year; it is, therefore, not necessarily an honor or a reward. In the past, such figures as Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin have been Man of the Year."

He seems to think 'famous' and 'infamous' are interchangeable.

All he sees is ‘famous’. Everything else is irrelevant.

It just highlights his fundamental insecurity and weakness.

This video shows that he doesn't understand the criteria used to select the "Personality of the Year". Given the explanation from Wiki  - "The distinction is supposed to go to the person who, "for good or ill", has most affected the course of the year; it is, therefore, not necessarily an honor or a reward. In the past, such figures as Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin have been Man of the Year", I wonder if people such as Bin Laden, Castro, Putin, or Ali Khamenei have been given the same distinction.

IF you listen carefully, He gives a lot away..   A good free Press is a most necessary Part of a Functioning Democracy.  There's also separation of Church and State and no one being above the LAW. How is the US stacking Up?

Have you noticed that Trump is blathering on mainly about Canada, Mexico, the members of the EU, China and North Korea, with a little about things in the Middle East, but he hasn't said much about Great Britain or Japan and not a word about Australia. We know that if he goes ahead with his economic vision, he'll severely damage the economies of those places, but he seems to either forget, or have no recognition of any countries south of the Equator.

Of the 60 or so people Trump has so far picked for his Cabinet or for senior level positions, at least:

5 are billionaires

8 have been major Trump donors

12 have hosted/co-hosted Mar-a-Lago events

13 showed up at his New York criminal trial

17 are associated with the America First Policy Institute or Project 2025

11 are or have been Fox hosts or contributors

9 have been registered lobbyists

28 served or advised in his previous administration

Loyalty to Trump is a pre-requisite, of course.

Depicting that data would make for an interesting Venn diagram.
