old man emu Posted January 22 Author Posted January 22 A government is like a business corporation. It has a Board of Directors who make decisions based on the application of their expertise to the advice provided to them by the next level of management below them. And that level gets the material to develop that advice from those lower in the hierarchy. What Trump has done is cut the Board of Directors off from that advice. It also seems that he intends to abandon the gatherers of advice creating material. Thousands of years of human civilisation has taught us that experience can only be gained over time. It's true that a short period of concentration on 'theory' can kickstart gaining experience, but there needs to be experienced people available to direct that period of concentration. By wanting to purge the public service, Trump is ignoring those thousands of years of civilisation. In Australia, CEOs deplore the complexity of our Unfair Dismissal laws, but at least they protect businesses from arbitrary dismissal. Then again, what more can you expect from a person whose most famous catch phrase is 'you're fired'? 1
old man emu Posted January 22 Author Posted January 22 Regarding the birthright order. The Order only affects the defined persons born after 75 days from the signing of the Order (sometime in March 2025). It is not retroactive. However the commencement of legal action will prevent its coming into force until the legal action is completed. That process will drag on for at least four years when the next President, likely to be a Democrat, would most likely can it. 1
onetrack Posted January 22 Posted January 22 QUOTE: "Last week, Secretary of State Marco Rubio told members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee at his confirmation hearing that “every dollar we spend, every program we fund and every policy we pursue must be justified by the answer to three simple questions”. “Does it make America safer? Does it make America stronger? Does it make America more prosperous?” ..." Rubio should be fired for getting the last part wrong. The question should have been, "Does it make Donald Trump more prosperous?"

Grumpy Old Nasho Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I got a glimpse of Penny Wong. Someone asked her a question, and her answer to it was: "President Trump has made it very clear he is going do things differently" Differently to what? .. she didn't say. As she was giving her answer, it was plain to tell she had her knickers in a knot.
facthunter Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I thought it was a VERY ASTUTE answer as well as accurate. . One thing about Wong is "She IS NOT stupid" and she is Experienced in this field. Trump would see it as a compliment. I think you are seeing what YOU WANT top SEE. Selective Perception. Don't worry, Plenty of people do it. Nev . 1
Grumpy Old Nasho Posted January 23 Posted January 23 No, Penny wasn't brave enough to further explain what she meant by "differently". She was relying on the journalists and the public to "selectively perceive" it themselves.

Grumpy Old Nasho Posted January 23 Posted January 23 (edited) Yes it's what you call being cowardly, no guts. She rides on the tails of the extreme lefty Labor party, that's why. Edited January 23 by Grumpy Old Nasho

Got to pick you up on that one, GON. Can you give examples of how the Labor party is "extreme lefty"? Because from my perspective the Labor party is slightly right of centre in some things and slightly left on others, but I cannot think of any policy where they are extreme in either direction. 1
old man emu Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 While it might be acceptable to call a bloke an f-wit in a pub, it is extremely unwise to do so about the leader of another country in the presence of the media. If you want any proof of the veracity of her answer, just watch any reports of what Trump has done since the election result was announced. We forumites are pretty unique in that once a person has laid down their position on a topic, the rest of us accept the person's right to such a position. I have formed the opinion that you would not vote for Labor in a one horse race. So be it. I'm happy that a fact has been established and that fact will influence how I interpret your posts when necessary. 1
facthunter Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Cleverly Deliberately AMBIGUOUS. A perfectly tailored answer in THE circumstances. NO GUTS and COWARDLY? You could NOT be More WRONG....Nev

You sure seem to be obsessed with Penny Wong. Her job is to represent the best interests of Australia not her own personal feelings. It is not in our country's interest to get on the wrong side of this guy because we know that is not in our interests. 1 1

Grumpy Old Nasho Posted January 23 Posted January 23 The Labor party is right-of-center with their immigration policy, they joined the Coalition to make the policy non-negotiable for the public. They are extreme left by legislating countless social handouts, absorbing billions of dollars, encouraging people not to do their fair share of work for their Nation. They ignore the needs of constituents in National party seats because they are not Labor party seats. They bow to ethnic citizens, treating them softly softly, even criminals. They abandoned the Australian national ethos in favor of internationalism, then pretend Australia is still Australia. It's extreme lefty alright ... and you ain't seen nothing yet, give them time, all ideologies have their obvious conclusions.
