All that makes Us a Prime Target, Trump is deeply UNPOPULAR Here, and TRUST in the USA is LOW. Not surprisingly. It's looking likely his  actions will cause a depression, and those things  affect the whole world for many years. Trump cares not a fig for anyone Outside of the USA. and most of those INSIDE the USA. Only the already RICH.  His RULE will be by THREAT, DIVISION and INTIMIDATION. Nev

Far from making America great again, Trump is doing the exact opposite through his lawless mismanagement and sheer stupidity. He has said that tariff wars are good and easy to win but his erratic approach has created financial anxiety in the US and around the workd. The US stock market is already down 10% and will probably drop further.

The cost of living will soon go up. He is trashing the justice system and going after his many enemies. He has upended the country’s security agencies and made the US more vulnerable. He has sided with Russia against Ukraine and Europe. Government employees are losing their jobs all across the country, which will have significant knock-on effects in their communities. His approval ratings are dropping steadily and most of the country thinks it’s heading in the wrong direction. He is the most ignorant US president in history when it comes to his general knowledge.

Trump watches the markets and his approval ratings very closely so he won’t like the current trend. On the other hand he can never admit that he was wrong about tariffs or any of his other decisions, so he’s going to paint himself into a corner very quickly. His MAGA base may finally realise that he isn’t the genius he said he was. Who knows how he’ll react then. The US will become the country Trump said it has been for years.

Guess what? Albo is pushing for Australian manufacturing. Why was it stopped in the 70s and 80s? Our domestic market was too small everyone reckoned, but it's not too small now is it?, just ask Albo. Does anyone know what they're doing in Canberra?

Stop $%$A&$z whinging. He want s to value add  to what we have. A Bot and Hockey told the Car makers to F'off and with that all the support INDUSTRIES DIED.. Facts don't Interest you. NO One was STOPPED per se.  and WE exported Cars.  Nev

Australian manufacturing wasn't "stopped", it was over-run and soundly beaten, cost-wise, by low-cost, large-production output Asian manufacturers, particularly the Chinese.

When was the last time you bought an Australian-made product from Bunnings - at a high price - in favour of the dirt-cheap Chinese one? That's right, you did the same as every other Australian, you went for the cheapest crap you could buy. Where is the car made that you drive, and why did you buy it, instead of an Australian-built one??

Forty years ago I lived in Ballarat where they made small motors at Norton Villers, Mars bars, Rivers clothing and shoes, big trailers at Freighter Industries, and a whole lot more I can no longer remember. Despite all that we had one of the highest unemployment rates in Australia.

In one of many jobs I had after being retrenched from the bank, I worked for a software company  which produced a computer program for managing hazardous materials, including Material Safety Data Sheets. In my role, I visited the GM plants at Elizabeth SA, Fisherman's Bend Melbourne, the truck factory at Dandenong, Ford Broadmeadows factory, Nissan Dandenong and Mitsubishi in Adelaide. Other non auto sites included Australian Paper Mills, Maryvale Vic, and Bundaberg Sugar Refinery, Qld.

What would America import from the Houthis to slap a tariff on?

I was being sarcastic.

Trumpet usually uses tariffs to punish his perceived enemies.

I'm sure he could come up with some excuse. Drugs, maybe?

That's a very good question.  Why is Timor L Este on his list of banned visitors? Nev

Very good point - very few Timorese could afford the ticket to get to USA even if they wanted to go there. And as far as I'm aware, no Timorese has offended the giant orange ego.

Timor Leste just sounds like a 3rd world sh**hole country, so good enough reason to keep them out, according to the MAGA doctrine.

I believe Australia was planning de-industrialization back in the sixties, then the plan was carried out in the 70s and 80s. We were told to "re-train" to do something else - remember that?

Being adaptable to vastly changed circumstances in jobs, industries and occupations, is all part of our life paths, and many people re-train more than once during their lifetimes.

I have changed occupations multiple times, and had to learn new skills each time. Most of the changes were forced on me, I just rolled with the punches, and kept going.

I've bordered on "technical bankruptcy" a couple of times, and been quite wealthy at other times. The only constants in life, are change, death, and taxes.
