Well, he has pardoned the Jan 6 insurrectionists, lifted restrictions on AI, said drill, baby, drill.

The problem is, the oil under America is the kind they can't use, and have to sell overseas. And the oil companies have said they won't drill because it costs them too much, no return. And yet the ignorant Republican supporters say that gasoline will drop below $2 per gallon when they dig. They have been told for months that's not true, but they still believe it.

There are now officially only two genders in America, male and female. Trump has wiped away all transgender recognition.

The bastard has just destroyed a 70-year-old sign of respect towards deceased Presidents by signing an Order directing that National Flags not be flown at half-mast on Inauguration Day.

They weren't today, because Trump has no respect for anyone but himself, including former President Jimmy Carter.  The flag should fly at half-staff for 30 days at all federal buildings, grounds, and naval vessels throughout the United States and its territories and possessions after the death of the president or a former president. Joe Biden ordered the flags to be lowered for a period of 30 days, in accordance with Proclamation 3044, signed by President DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER on 1st March, 1954.

This would not have been the first time that flags had flown at half-staff during a presidential inauguration. In 1973, flags were at half-staff during Richard Nixon’s inauguration because of the death of former president Harry Truman, who passed away less than a month earlier

Bureaucracies always grow like cancer. I don't doubt that a lot of agencies/departments need a big shakeup/downsizing, or even deletion. Governments have stopped acting in the interests of the majority. That is what won the voters over.

Have they?

I'm not an expert on the public service in the USA, but from what I read and hear about, they are much the same as here - a bunch of people generally working hard and caring about the public.

Whether or not that is the impression the public gets is perhaps a different matter.  Let's be honest - look at Robodebt which copped a fair amount of flak, rightfully so - that was an imbecilic policy forced upon Centrelink staff by the government of the day and the senior leadership of the department.  A hell of a lot of brave people working in Centrelink spoke up about this and pushed back on it, because they had the expertise and experience to know that it was not only illegal but just plain wrong - but that distinction probably isn't clear to your average punter.

There's an awful lot of work done by many departments to keep people safe and healthy, which probably goes unnoticed by Joe Public.  Safety standards for food, medication, machinery, etc - environmental standards to protect waterways and the air we breathe (probably to be wiped out under Trump) - oversee agriculture which protect against devastating disease outbreaks - monitor and analyse traffic patterns, road accidents, black spots and come up with solutions - regulate companies to prevent anti competitive behaviour and monopolies (although given the concentration of power in that front row, maybe that one needs more teeth) - the list of what government does goes on and on.

If you gut the public service then standards go down and life gets a little worse for everyone.  If you outsource the work to the private sector then everyone pays more for the same result and only the rich profit from it.

Voting for Trump because you believe he'll make things better by gutting the government, is like firing all surgeons and replacing them with a witch doctor.

He's just signed an executive order to remove the 14th amendment to the constitution which granted citizenship to  anyone born in the US. However,  the president cannot remove or repeal an amendment to the Constitution by executive order. The process for amending the Constitution is strictly defined and requires a two-thirds vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, or a constitutional convention called for by two-thirds of the state legislatures. After that, three-quarters of the states must ratify the proposed amendment. This process ensures that any changes to the Constitution are thoroughly deliberated and widely accepted, preventing any single executive action from altering it.

You notice that Trump never identified which public servants would get the chop.I couldn't see the customer service people going. I was thinking that it would be the upper levels of the service to go. Those are the ones who actually have the authority to institute regulations. Wouldn't it be ironic if he removed the restrictions on fully automatic weapons, and some nutter filled him full of lead with one of these

Wow, I guess those who are going to wait and see, with some hope of positive change, are keeping their heads down. Like we do about the myth of climate change.

There's less and Less people CLAIMING Anthropomorphic  Climate change is NOT happening. One thing that has been proven is plenty of  Self interested People wanting to Profit from the denial of it KNEW about it but kept it secret, And/or Propagated LIES, Knowingly  to make more profit, which is FRAUD. There might be some BIG payouts regarding this behaviour and some would be $#!t!ng themselves. Nev

I meant no offense to those government workers who are diligent and ethical.

However there are others not so worth their pay. I spent a year in close company of a state Housing Department employee. During that time I mixed with the department members. Listening to their 'shop talk' enlightened me - what a mob of bigoted wankers. Can you believe they all went on bus tours of the lowest socioeconomic suburbs in order to understand the needs of their most needy customers? And their discussion revolved around disgust and bias about those dregs of society. Note that they were not permitted to talk to anybody - it was purely a tour of messy homes and uncared for kids. Their contempt was obvious.

Of course there are parts of the government bureaucracy that are great value.

I do not believe in sending in the toe cutters.

I do believe all sections should periodically prove their worth.

And I  believe every minister should go through the processes that the public use in their portfolio, so they understand how things really work.

And Trump will probably  throw a lot of babies out with the bathwater.

Shy Cancels are sheltered workshops. They wouldn't work in a tub of Yeast. Some houses actually get BUILT Despite them.  I told Ballarat Council THAT once when I was erecting a hangar there. It HAS a historic overlay.   The UPSIDE of that is it will probably NOT be turned into more Houses.  Nev

Not a lot of respect. decency and class on show. Like a lot of Hyena's circling an injured animal. Tough only when there's a lot of them..  In the USA WINNING has always been everything. KAMALA put in a good effort in the short time available to her. Gender Race and being a "rotten" Democrat was used against her. The MAJORITY of the Biased Media was against her. ALL very publicly on show to those who are interested enough and concerned about the" Anything goes as long as I win "By Trump. HE ran the "Birther" thing about Obama and eventually admitted it was BS, But SAID. BUT IT WORKED. . . Principles? HE  has NONE.( It would just complicate things) HE said "ALL I want from you is YOUR vote. and after this, you won't have to vote again"!!!. What could he have Meant by that?   Nev

Allowed it to happen because HE said "I'll only accept the result IF I WIN.". beforehand. IS THAT even slightly ACCEPTABLE. Also I could shoot somebody in broad daylight and get away with it?. HOW SPECIAL can one be? WHAT A Terrible example to set  He has his imitators. Bolsonaro in Brazil and maybe Dutton here. There's NO doubt HE wanted Trump in...I'm NOT sure the Majority of the Australian People would though.. Its quite likely he wouldn't want to risk anything to save US despite what we may HOPE. American sites here and use of facilities for training, make us a prime target   I wouldn't be backward in REMINDING him of THAT . What IF WE unilaterally broke a Trade DEAL?   He'd probably invade  and put the Government before the  same Kangaroo Court that was going to  deal with  Julien Assange. He was silly enough to think Trump would care about him. Trump CARES about no one BUT himself.  Ask his Neice Mary or read the book. Nev

Yeah  Trumps doctor found something wrong with his FEET and he couldn't serve. He calls them all "Suckers and Losers". Maybe his feet are made of clay. I'd love to see him in a real fight. One NOT rigged. .  Nev

I searched for videos of speeches from presidential candidates who lost.   Without exception and regardless of party, they were full of grace and dignity. Compare this to P**** Grabber's election night (2020) and inauguration speech.
