Litespeed Posted March 19 Posted March 19 It's telling that when bombing Yemen, he wasn't in the Whitehouse situation room. No, he strolled off the golf course to claim he "Won" the Trump international. Then walked in to his clubhouse in golf attire and bombed a country. It would make great satire but horrifically it's true life. 1 1
red750 Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Further proof of how he rides roughshod over everything, disregarding all laws. How did he get around this, the Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act. Extract from Wikipedia. The Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act is a United States federal law passed by the 47th United States Congress and signed into law by President Chester A. Arthur on January 16, 1883. The act mandates that most positions within the federal government should be awarded on the basis of merit instead of political patronage. After this current experience, it looks like it needs further fine tuning. 3
octave Posted March 19 Posted March 19 RFK Jr.’s Strategy for the Bird Flu Epidemic: Spread, Baby, Spread The New York Times reports that Kennedy has been suggesting that to defeat bird flu, you first have to let it get its groove on. The Times quotes a recent Fox News interview, in which Kennedy told the news channel’s listeners that America “should consider maybe the possibility of letting it run through the flock so that we can identify the birds, and preserve the birds, that are immune to it”—a notion Kennedy has offered multiple times. Dr. Gail Hansen, a former state veterinarian for Kansas, told the Times that Kennedy’s plan was “a really terrible idea, for any one of a number of reasons,” also calling it a “recipe for disaster.” Experts like Hansen seem to agree that giving the virus a free pass to spread would just allow it to mutate and grow more powerful. Indeed, other current and former federal officials and scientists that the newspaper spoke to all said that stepping back and letting bird flu ravage domestic chicken populations was really only a recipe for lost farm profits and more dead birds. Kennedy’s strategy (and the apparent worldview that informs it) also seems to hammer home the point that he is, on a fundamental level, unqualified to head the HHS. The Times writes: 1 1

octave Posted Thursday at 05:30 AM Posted Thursday at 05:30 AM French scientist denied US entry after phone messages critical of Trump found France’s research minister said a French scientist was denied entry to the US this month after immigration officers at an airport searched his phone and found messages in which he had expressed criticism of the Trump administration. “I learned with concern that a French researcher” on assignment for the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) “who was traveling to a conference near Houston was denied entry to the United States before being expelled”, Philippe Baptiste, France’s minister of higher education and research, said in a statement on Monday to Agence France-Presse published by Le Monde. “This measure was apparently taken by the American authorities because the researcher’s phone contained exchanges with colleagues and friends in which he expressed a personal opinion on the Trump administration’s research policy,” the minister added. “Freedom of opinion, free research, and academic freedom are values that we will continue to proudly uphold. I will defend the right of all French researchers to be faithful to them, while respecting the law,” Baptiste said. 1 1

Litespeed Posted Thursday at 06:17 AM Posted Thursday at 06:17 AM The French should remind them the Statue of Liberty was a gift from France to celebrate the open democracy that welcomes the migrant. As that is no longer the case they should demand it back or demolish it. 1

Jerry_Atrick Posted Thursday at 06:35 AM Posted Thursday at 06:35 AM The hypocrisy is that these MAGA nuts are happy to spread their lies and division, but when challenged hide behind "free speech"... One rule for them; another for everyone else. 1
Jerry_Atrick Posted Thursday at 06:49 AM Posted Thursday at 06:49 AM (edited) The US beef indistry is calling for tariffs on Aussie Beef: https://www.theage.com.au/world/north-america/australia-accused-of-being-by-far-the-worst-in-beef-trade-20250320-p5lky4.html Yes, we have had a c. $800m/year trade surplus in beef with the US.. But, that is because, despite this claim: “You can’t ignore a $US29 billion [$45 billion] trade deficit in beef [over 20 years]. All we are asking for is fair trade – that really can’t be too much to ask. US beef is the highest quality in the world, and if Australia is unwilling to recognise that, then it is only fair for the US to reciprocate.” US beef is no where near the best in the world. Their feed and chemicals make it tougher than most. Most Americans I know were shocked when they had good UK beef; one friend of mine from Pittsburgh, who is a beef lover and has eaten at the reputedly best steak houses across the USA could not believe how good our standard supermarket fayre was. I met him in Melbourne while he was on some ADF job, and we ate at some famous steakhouse in Richmond or East Melbourne - can't recall it's name, but we was completely blown away at how good the beef was. claiming it was better than a NY steak house. There was a plaque from that NY steak house on the wall of this restaurant recognising its quality. Argentine beef is reputedly the best in the world (ex. wagyu), and a couple of years ago, Australia won the best wagyu beef awards in London. The reason why it is in such deficit (and I can't ever remember seeing it in the UK) is it is crap compared to many others. Edited Thursday at 06:51 AM by Jerry_Atrick 1

ClintonB Posted Friday at 08:03 AM Posted Friday at 08:03 AM On a Video by Meidastouch on you tube last night the orange clown was showing a news reporter around the Whitehouse for the purpose of being candidly interviewed. He bragged he has the Declaration of Independence on the wall in the office, behind curtains because it’s such a precious document. His comment was that Joe would never have thought of that. He told her it was the original. The media’s touch guy said he’s to stupid and arrogant to even know where the real one is stored. the reporter seemed quite shocked at some of his other blatantly wrong comments and answers to questions. i know it is a heavily democratic supporting channel to watch, he does try to present the facts with mainstream news video to back up his claims. 1 2
