nomadpete Posted February 6 Posted February 6 The flow of fire information is muddied by infra red hotspot identification. Sometimes hotspots might be a dangerous reignition. I think sometimes the enthusiastic hotspot observers send crews out to insignificsnt smouldering stumps in middle of a burnt out area (no risk). This can cause incorrect frightening of the public. But, better safe than sorry.
red750 Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Here we go again. What have fires to do with Elon Musk. If you want to have a discussion, open a topic about it. 1
nomadpete Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Sorry Peter. I'm a naughty boy. But.... I reckon Musky has lit a few fires of his own.
onetrack Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Here is a 54 minute speech by (Republican) John Kennedy, handing out an epic defence of Elon Musks "cost-cutting" investigation. He claims Washington lives in a bubble, and no-one has ever questioned the public servants and their agencies spending. I was under the impression there WAS a number of spending watchdogs, and Trump disbanded them all. The problem is, Musk is looking for DEMOCRAT spending, not just general waste and mismanagement. Anytime Musk finds Democrat spending programmes, he cuts them off. What about the massive waste by Trump, such as the SPENDING on a useless BORDER WALL, which is going to RAMP UP again, under Trump? Kennedy seems to be oblivious to the fact, that Musks manoeuvres are all about cutting the ground out from under Democrat States, Democrat programmes, and Democrat politicians. It's not an IMPARTIAL, Congress-elected investigation into Govt spending, it is a specifically-targeted move to weaken Democrat political strength. 1
facthunter Posted February 6 Posted February 6 You will not have to VOTE again. Won't that be nice? Nev 1
Marty_d Posted February 7 Posted February 7 They don't HAVE to vote now. That's working out well isn't it. I'm so glad we have compulsory voting here and think we have a better democracy for it. 1
facthunter Posted February 7 Posted February 7 It does work well in Practice. One has to bear in mind the reason for it's introduction. Stopping the workers being rostered so as they couldn't vote. Nev 1

old man emu Posted February 8 Posted February 8 It will be interesting to see if it is Trump or Musk who is Time's "Person of the Year" for 2025. It seems that the criterion for the selection is the perceived historical significance of the nominee. These two certainly meet that criterion. Most choices for "Person of the Year" have been historically important individuals, many of them infamous rather than internationally popular (Adolf Hitler was 1938's "Man of the Year", Stalin, 1939 and 1942, and Ayatollah Khomeini won in 1979). 2

red750 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Elon moved the Nazi hacker to the State Department, where he now has access to the nation's most classified documents and secrets. This is a teenager who calls himself 'Big Balls' who was canned from his previous job for selling trade secrets to rivals. And here's Elon, secretly moving this guy around like Catholic bishops did with pedophile priests. 1
red750 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 American Civil War II is under way. BREAKING: Elon rehires Nazi hacker, moves him from the Department of Stealing Your Social Security to the State Department's most sensitive classified data. Elon is a straight up enemy of our nation and he's got full control of all the levers. Moments ago, a federal judge said the Trump administration is violating his order to restore funding to the agencies Elon is illegally sabotaging. The judge said he might hold the administration in contempt of court, while Trump, JD Vance, Elon and GOP leaders said they will target and replace any federal judge they do not like. We are in a full blown constitutional crisis. We're going to need to organize a national rebellion to stop the billionaires coup. 1
Marty_d Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Well, you elect a convicted felon to the presidency, what the hell do you expect? 1
Jerry_Atrick Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Elon Musk has submitted a $100bn bid for open AI (Chat-GPT) Anti-trust laws would probably block it normally.. let's see what happens 2
