spacesailor Posted Monday at 08:08 AM Posted Monday at 08:08 AM " To hide the taste " . No , not turmeric. That ' spice ' has always been curry . I can manage a hint of turmeric . But, not the fiery taste of Curry . spacesailor
onetrack Posted Monday at 01:03 PM Author Posted Monday at 01:03 PM Curry gets its fire from the chilli that makes up a large part of regular curry powder. SWMBO cannot handle spices or chilli in any form, it worsens her arthritis and nearly cripples her. But you can make curry powder at home without chilli, it's not hard to do. I use a little garlic, powdered coriander, powdered cumin, powdered turmeric, powdered ginger, a little mustard, powdered cinnamon, powdered cardamom, and a little black pepper. Some people use a little paprika as well, but SWMBO is also allergic to the "nightshade family" plants, and includes capsicum as well as chilli, so I leave out paprika. You can vary the amounts to suit your taste. Cumin and Cardamom are the main ingredients in curry. https://christinathechannel.com/homemade-curry-powder-not-spicy/
spacesailor Posted Monday at 10:44 PM Posted Monday at 10:44 PM I read .!. " Turmeric looses it's goodness with heat " , so put it on the cooked food , not in the cooking. spacesailor 1
