winsor68 Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 What would ENT specialists know? Everyone else knows that ice cream is the health food of the Nation! OME You really need to refer to what we once new as Icecream in the past tense... Ask yourself what has changed in the ingreadient section on your icecream in the last 25 years? Ironically it is made of milk... just try reading the label on that!

Dont you mean "supposed" to be made of milk I think modern icecream is totally chemically produced
Sapphire Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Some icecream do not have cream but use skim milk instead, which is better
winsor68 Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 Some icecream do not have cream but use skim milk instead, which is better Better for whom?
Sapphire Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Better for whome Better for 8 billion people-thats a lot of clogged up arteries
winsor68 Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 Scary fact... but finally Conventional Medicine is starting to admit it is not fat that causes heart problems and taking Cholesterol tablets (again) is masking the symptoms... and then helping lots of medical facility earn a nice living doing bypass surgery. If Milk is so bad for us... Why would we modify it rather than stop eating it?
winsor68 Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 Scary stuff I know... considering the ageing membership I am sure most of us would prefer to just pop a pill to "lower cholesterol"... or eat "Reduced Fat" Milk.. blissfully thinking we are looking after our health... Finding out that it is a myth is going to take some serious adjusting... http://www.sott.net/article/242516-Heart-Surgeon-Speaks-Out-On-What-Really-Causes-Heart-Disease
Sapphire Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Scary factIf Milk is so bad for us... Why would we modify it rather than stop eating it? One of the big mysteries of life:puzzled:
Pilot Pete Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 If the likes of 100% natural milk is bad for you then why arent our 80/90 year old grandparents dying from some milk related diseases. They would have most likely had theirs straight from the udder to the bottle with only a bit of heating in the production cycle. I think its more the chemicles they use in the production lines then the likes of milk, corn, wheat, beef, chicken etc etc in their natural state. Only thing is if you want foods in their natural state they call it organic and charge a premium for it. How dumb are we for letting them do it????????? PS.... Hope your son gets well soon and all our best wishes from the Austin family
Sapphire Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 About our diet - I believe all things in moderation is the key. Sugar, known as the 'white death', is fine, in my view, even in highly refined form - just don't consume too much of it. Animal fat, same. You name it, consume it in moderation and have a balanced diet, you'll do just fine. Now moderating intake is the key........... must work on that!!!...................... Pud The reason we want to eat so much fat is hereditary. Thousands of years ago so much energy was used to hunt for food that fat was needed in big quantities to be consumed. Now we still want all that fat but don't burn it off with lots of activity.
winsor68 Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 I hope Lachlan is continuing his recovery with not too much discomfort Ian. About our diet - I believe all things in moderation is the key. Sugar, known as the 'white death', is fine, in my view, even in highly refined form - just don't consume too much of it. Animal fat, same. You name it, consume it in moderation and have a balanced diet, you'll do just fine. Now moderating intake is the key........... must work on that!!!...................... Pud So true Pud and the exact advice we need to follow... TROUBLE IS THIS... Over the last 25 odd years the food industry has transformed the way we eat... indeed even the way we look at and think about food. We are all aware that as Pud says... all natural foods in moderation. Many of us swear we are eating good food ...no I don't mean "organic"... although it is ideal it is not necessary overall... natural is a better term... if it grew eat it. For instance... the good mum gives her kids vegemite or peanut butter because it is not junk food... Nutella is considered junk food (it used to be sold as health food)... ironically they are all the same. Contain large amount of gluten product for taste and appearance and a heap of suger... much more if they "reduce" the fat... which is ironically if you eat properly the only part of the "food" with health qualities... The same goes for 90% of what we buy unless we are shopping in the fresh fruit or meat section (or the gluten free section)... I was "aware" of this for the last 20 years and always thought I was quite smart about the food I ate.. until recently when it became a bit more serious and we looked into it fot out daughter did I realize just how deep and deceptive the whole thing has become... the average person doesn't have a chance of eating properly in today's society. It is such a BIG deception it puts all others to shame! "They" are literally poisoning our Kids! They probably also have shares in the "Health" Industry...

Correct... So given "fat" is basically what runs us... and that "sugar" and fat are basically one and the same when they get to your engine... I ask again... Why would taking the "fat" out of Milk make it good?
Guest Andys@coffs Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Correct... So given "fat" is basically what runs us... and that "sugar" and fat are basically one and the same when they get to your engine... I ask again... Why would taking the "fat" out of Milk make it good? SO in the begining I had 1L of milk it cost 50c to produce making me 50c profit Then I had a bright Idea. If I take that milk, cut out the cream I can then sell that and sell the fat reduced milk So I sell the milk for $1.10 (after all its now better) and make 55c profit I sell the cream for $1 and make profit of 80c Whats not to like (according to my accountant)
winsor68 Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 Diary and Wheat... both big industries... more about Labs and Factories then making food. Of course none of this detracts from the poor Diary Farmer who is by law forbidden to sell his milk to Joe Public.

No one stops you milking it out of the cow yourself, that is what I have on my muesli every morning, used to eat cardboard UHT milk with the green stripe and the heart foundation tick, that is just a marketing tool like the Halal mark, pay enough money and you could print it on anything.
facthunter Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Look up Lactose intolerance. the Dairy industry won't tell you much about it. All highly processed food is a con. Anything that keeps for a long time is suspect. ( If microbes won't eat it why should you)?. Fat, salt and sugar are pretty addictive, so they feature prominently in most processed foods. Caffeine is another one. You're onto the facts Winsor. They make it very hard to know what you are actually consuming. Good unprocessed foods can be lovely to eat. We are generally just too lazy. Fancy getting potatoes in tins. They are pretty easy to cook. Not that you need lots of starch ( unless you are hanging wallpaper). Nev
fly_tornado Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Keep in mind that milk has a short shelf life, icecream and cheese do not. more $$$
eightyknots Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Fancy getting potatoes in tins. They are pretty easy to cook. Not that you need lots of starch ( unless you are hanging wallpaper). Nev What about the "just-add-water" dry flakey stuff. For instance Deb (or the 'improved' version New Deb).

Sapphire Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 If you eat a burger that lasts forever, then do you last forever? [you are what you eat]
spacesailor Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I want someone to' Name the chemical' that emulsifies the fat into the milk ? spacesailor
