brilin_air Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 If you want really good icecream go to NZ. Maggie Beer does a great icecream, and Tasmanian brand Valhalla is not bad either. -Linda
spacesailor Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Almost SIX years. No can name that Emusifier That's added to milk. Is it a posible problem that we shouldn't know about. Less we stop buying it & ruin the Dairy industry. spacesailer
facthunter Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Trans fats make stuff last forever. Even microbes don't eat it. Nev
Yenn Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Just look at modern farming methods. they will put you off food. It is not the fault of the farmer, but the big business that is screwing him. Dairy farmers are getting out. I got out in the sixties. How can you run a farming busines, when you sell your product and get paid, then the processor wants his money back. You would think that the producer could say "Get lost" but how can he then sell what he produces today. One buyer in the area and you cannot sell to anyone else. Beef cattle are now finished in feed lots. Have you seen them, or worse smelt them?
nomadpete Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Feed lots. I've been 7500 feet above one, soaring in a thermal that resulted from the feedlot. The stink was almost unbearable. I refuse to buy meat if I know it came from a feedlot. All three in the area smell the same so I'm guessing they all are like that.
facthunter Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Most meat adopts the taste of the food it's consuming. Ever smell silage? Nev
Old Koreelah Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 Bit of trivia: what's in ice cream? When I went back to fibreglassing after a 25 year gap, I ordered bags of filler, but made enquiries to make sure it wasn't the asbestos flock they used to send. I was assured the fine white powder is food grade silicon, as used in ice cream.
old man emu Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 I want someone to' Name the chemical' that emulsifies the fat into the milk ? spacesailor There is no chemical involvement. The process is purely mechanical. What is homogenised milk?

We make our own occasionally - cream, eggs, honey and vanilla - that's it!

Yenn Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Ice cream comes from milk, milk comes from breasts, breasts are inflated with silicon. Is that where ice cream gets its silica?
Old Koreelah Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Actually Yenn, I suspect silicon is used as a milk replacement in both situations.
