dutchroll Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 It's only a minor thread drift Phil (like a flesh wound).

I'm away for a few lovely quiet days in Venice,. . . .( Stinks a bit,. . .must be the poor sewerage system. . .) and you all go stark ravin' bloody crazy. . . HUMOUR. . .? OK, ok,. . .cynical humour I shall admit admit BUT. . . . . .? ? ? ? ? Come on guys FCS. . . . . Did you really expect any different Phil? This is the internet y'know. On top of that, it's a bunch of pilots, the most pedantic bunch of argumentative pricks you will find anywhere, beside the religious.
nomadpete Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Jeeze. . . .he said. . . . .BUT. . . . . .? ? ? ? ? Come on guys FCS. . . . . Phil, Phil, There you go dragging religeon into the forum again......... And that's when the fight started.
dutchroll Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 .... it's a bunch of pilots, the most pedantic bunch of argumentative pricks you will find anywhere, beside the religious. 1) We're not argumentative. We're absolutely not. 2) Strictly speaking when you said "pedantic bunch of" after "bunch of" you didn't need to use the collective noun twice in a row. 3) Point 2) isn't argumentative either.....or pedantic.

I disagree.....
nomadpete Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 To Disagree is not the same as a valid argument
Phil Perry Posted November 15, 2016 Author Posted November 15, 2016 Recycled, but apt ?
M61A1 Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 To Disagree is not the same as a valid argument You can disagree about opinions...much harder to disagree about undisputable facts. Well, that's my opinion anyway.
Phil Perry Posted November 15, 2016 Author Posted November 15, 2016 To Disagree is not the same as a valid argument No it isn't. YES IT IS ! Argument is an intellectual process; . . a connected series of phrases intended to establish a proposition. . . not the automatic gainsaying of whatever the other person says. . . No it isn't . . . . . ( With apologies to Monty Python's Flying Circus [ we have a better one here. . . ] )
Bikky Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 To Disagree is not the same as a valid argument To argue is not the same as a valid disagreement. I'm afraid you've opened a can of worms here NomadPete! Argument is an intellectual process For some ,yes. For others ... I'm not so sure.
Yenn Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 I don't disagree with your undsputed facts, I just dispute them. Thats not an argument, thats a fact.
nomadpete Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 It's getting worse. But please don't dispute that
