Jerry_Atrick
Oh, what a car! My partner is atrocious when I am driving - not because I am a crap driver, but she feels so out of control. I can be 200 feet from the car in front and she is already telling me to brake and allow more room... There was a time I was giving my partner and the mother of a friend of my daughter who lives in the same village a ride into town for a school play, and it was a nightmare. Even the mother said to me as she got out, "Thanks, Lance.. I felt very safe.". If they still make them, I am buying one! (Although, I rarely drive with her anymore) Edited September 14, 2023 by Jerry_Atrick 1

onetrack
Re the Dickey seat ("Rumble seat" in the U.S.), there's usually a small step just above the bumper, and another one on top of the rear mudguard. You do have to be pretty fit, though - not for oldies with stiff joints, and unsteady on their feet. Here's a great thread (below) on the procedure, on the AACA forum. There's some superb photos there of early 1930's Chevys and Model A Fords, clearly showing the steps on the Chevs and Model A's. The Chysler Imperial had a design with a small door to the Dickey seat. https://forums.aaca.org/topic/291250-how-to-get-in-rumble-seat/

Jerry_Atrick
Sadly, I don't have a picture of it, but yesterday, walking doen the high street of Taunton, our market town, I heard this annoying noise coming from a small bike that sounded like it's muffler had fallen off. I turned arounf, and there was a big (20+ stone) bloke in full outlaw bikie gear riding a rather small 150CC with his "L" plates. Big tough man on small bike. Looked like padding right up to play a game of cricket with a tennis ball. (L platers are restricted to 150CC bikes in the UK).

old man emu
I can remember when there was a class for 50cc bikes at the Isle of Man races. 11 hours ago, nomadpete said: A clear case of cruelty to dumb motorcycles. I think that the Macquarie or Lonsdale Street legal eagles who deck themselves out in full black leather on the weekends in imitation of some of their clients, and ride their Harleys and Indians to trendy coffee shops in the rural outskirts are quite simply dorks.

Popular Post spenaroo
Oh the stories and opinion I have on this.... the Ulysses club turning up to a protest on mandatory Fluro vest for motorcyclists...... while wearing their Fluro vests. used to call the dress-up bikies "gay pirates" even Harley-Davidson themselves say they are a lifestyle company. they make more money off clothing and accessory sales then motorcycles. even funnier to see them all whining the other day that some veterans were refused service at a pub.... yep... the Vietnam veterans MC, all wearing the vests with the club name and skull on the back - which they refused to take off on a Friday evening dinner service - so got the outlaw treatment from the staff, yet whine on Facebook as for the 50cc isle of man bikes - those things were awesome. the honda was a twin that revved to over 20,000rpm and still has the best power to displacement figure. 16hp going through a 9 speed gearbox. allowing it to do 175km/h 3
