Marty_d Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 No, but I'd love to see him use it.
Marty_d Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 I'd like to order a mixed dozen, but I have nowhere to put them.
Marty_d Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 I'm going to have to use that when I cut up the onions for the barbeque at the Men's Shed. One guy did wear safety goggles and a face shield when he did it. Breathe only through your mouth. Sounds stupid but it works.
onetrack Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 Wash and cut your onions under running water, and you'll find there's no need to cry.
willedoo Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 (edited) You can freeze onions; good for isolation and staying away from the supermarket. I dice them up and put them in a cake mixing bowl, then drizzle on some olive oil. Then roll the onions around to make sure the oil coats them. Next step is to flat pack them in a glad bag. Freezing them in a thin flat section enables you to break off small amounts as per requirements. Much better than freezing them in one big hard block. The olive oil also helps to stop it freezing in a hard mass. The same method works with green stuff as well, like basil. The oil maintains the green colour so it doesn't go black. I haven't tried thawing the onions; usually drop them in the pan while still frozen. If you eat a lot of sloppy food like curries and stews, you can freeze a lot of ingredients this way. You can dice up a whole cabbage, roll it in oil and flat pack it. With sloppy food, you don't need to thaw it; just drop it in the pot. Edited April 22, 2020 by Guest 1 1
Marty_d Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 (edited) Who the hell originally started breeding pugs and thought "Wouldn't it be great to give it bug eyes and take away its snout!" Edited April 22, 2020 by Guest
Phil Perry Posted April 22, 2020 Author Posted April 22, 2020 Finally made use of the old wooden pallet I broke up earlier. 3
