Genetic evidence indicates as few as 8 human females survived a cataclysm 70,000 years ago, which was probably caused by the Lake Toba eruption. I didn't know that about Lake Toba. I stayed there on Samosir island for a while. We were renting a waterfront two story, five bedroom house on the lake for $50 a week. Had our own jetty and a dugout wooden canoe thrown in. Wasn't into the canoe though, as that lake is incredibly deep and scary. Nice place if you want to chill out, but very boring. 1

In 1976 I jumped into Lake Batur to repair an outrigger that had come adrift from our boat. Cold, very deep, scary. 1
onetrack Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 "Keep failing at the current rate" might have been far better wording. No conspiracy theory has ever withstood the glare of close and intense scrutiny. 1 1

facthunter Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 It takes too many people to make a conspiracy work and only one to make a stuff up. . Today everyone Makes "stuff" up. Thats the biggest problem. Nev 2
spacesailor Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 It was Always rumored " British army " put chemicals in the soldiers food . That conspiracy theory is still valid today as in ww1 . And Thet tested new drugs on soldiers in ' conscription service ' . spacesailor 1
Marty_d Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 We've all seen government inability to keep secrets and propensity to stuff things up on a massive scale. Yet somehow delusional right-wing tinfoil hat wearers (usually anti government) give governments so much credit by thinking they can keep huge projects totally secret. Critical thinking people... critical thinking! 1

Critical thinking people... critical thinking! I once knew a bloke who erected a pole on top of his roof and put his landline phone on top. A mate of his was worried as nobody could get him on the phone, so he went round to check. The bloke could ring out - he had a ladder to get to the roof and another ladder to get up the pole. He said the government couldn't monitor his phone calls from there. He also pulled the radio in his car apart because he thought ASIO was bugging him. He was extremely paranoid and thrived on conspiracies. It wasn't Schizophrenia; the way it was described to me, his brain was permanently depleted of some chemical from long term depression. He was ok when he took prescribed medication. 2 1
spacesailor Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 THERE YOU GO ,. He is manipulated into taking ' governmebt " prescibed " medication , That will add to his ' conspiracy ' worries. LoL spacesailor 1
red750 Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 When someone on the council owns the local bike shop- 1 3
onetrack Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 It must be an old or photo-shopped photo, because virtually every council today has a requirement in tenders, for bicycle-safe drain grates. They come in a variety of patterns, from wavy cast-iron varieties to walkway gridmesh styles. 1 2
old man emu Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 I'd say that the grate was there long before Councils cowered to the treadlies and created bicycle lanes along footpaths. 1
Marty_d Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Bicycle lanes are a good thing. Keeps them off the roads. 1
Jerry_Atrick Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Except when they bleeding well still ride on the road, alongside a flat and smooth but empty bicycle lane 1

All I find is rough, glass and gravel strewn strips along the verge, that are a definite hazard to cyclists. 1
spacesailor Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 THEN MAKE THOSE WHO USE THEM ,, Clean them up Are you blaming the muck on car driver's. My 4X4 drive club , cleansed lot's of roads and not in our local area . They also helped maintain ' national parks ' area's . Got us a better look !. We hoped. They ( N P ) then said we had to have ' licence s ' for chainsaw's in the N P s And they would train us for $$$. & we thought we were helping THEM ! . spacesailor 1
facthunter Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 How do pushbikes put muck on roads or damage them? Nev 1
