I thought a "knocker upper" was someone who got young ladies in the family way.

It appears they were employed up until the mid 1800's to carry a long stick to tap on people's windows to "knock them up" for work, before alarm clocks became prevalent.

Fe2O3γ- maghemite ?

Maghemite (γ-Fe2O3) is an iron oxide that has a dual advantage when used in water treatment applications. It acts as both a photocatalyst and magnetic nanomaterial which makes it very effective in the degradation and removal of contaminants.
