octave Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 But why NASA want to crash it into Saturn is odd,. . .I'd have gone for one of it's moons. . . . Enceladus is the most interesting one, The reason is because Enceladus is potentially suitable for life it is crucial that it is not contaminated with microbes from Earth. It is a bit of a dilemma, we don't want a probe to eventually dectect microbes on another planet only to find that they came from an earlier probe. It is hard to believe that microbes could survive the vacuum and radiation of space however they seem to be able to. Bacteria Are So Good at Surviving in Space, NASA Needs a New Way to Kill Them Burning up in the upper atmosphere of Saturn is the best way to ensure we don't inadvertently introduce life to another planet.
octave Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 this is even in their open public advertisements for employees FCS. I am not doubting you, but would you be so kind as to provide a link to this advertisement?
Phil Perry Posted April 20, 2017 Author Posted April 20, 2017 I am not doubting you, but would you be so kind as to provide a link to this advertisement? Oh they've said that quite blatantly, whereas any commercial organization which said a similar thing would be shot down as discriminatory. . . If I can relocate the 2016 actual personnel recruitment ad again, I will post it for you Sir. All part of the BBCs strong ethos towards staff diversity; applications from white heterosexual males are discouraged.
octave Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 The most recent example of this is the latest 'Assistant' to the main character in DOCTOR WHO. . .she is a black militant Lesbian OK I am not a Dr Who fan, but after a little research I have a few questions. You say militant lesbian can you substantiate that??? Now let us say that your assertion is true so fVcking what? Are you suggesting that she is not able to fulfil the job description??? Are ratings down (lets face it that is the point of making a TV program) Are you suggesting that the percentage of lesbian characters on TV exceeds the percentage of in society??? can you give a list of overtly lesbian people on TV so we can do the maths? it seems to be a badge of honour to 'Come Out' like a Lesbian or a Homosexual, in public and spoil the enjoyment of the programme for the massive overall majority of people in this Country at least,. . . who rate themselves as 'Traditional' / Normal. Are you sure that this spoils the enjoyment of the MAJORITY or just closed minded angry old fossils. Why is it that you think actors should keep their political views to themselves, perhaps ageing recreational pilots should keep their political views to themselves. I had thought that those who criticised PC did so because of their commitment to free speech. My sister does not want to shove her homosexuality down YOUR throat, but she would like to point out that if she holds hands with her partner in public it is not about you, is about expressing affection for her partner. I have a few gay male friends and I do not hate them enough to refer to them as fudge packers (although happy to pass your message along). The point is that there have always been gay people. I suspect that as society progresses your views will become increasingly antiquated, just like folks who were horrified by past attitudes to mixed race marriages. I would be happy for my children and grand children and even great grand children in the future to read my posts because whilst my attitudes may have dated at least they are not about disliking people because of the people they love. My sister is gay and just wants to proclaim her love in exactly the way I do with my wife if you consider this offensive then so be it, your children and grandchildren will probably not find it offensive. :(
Marty_d Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 He was wearing a Tee shirt which said. . .'This is what a feminist looks like' If a feminist is someone who believes in equality, then I'm a feminist. If we'd progressed far enough that that was true, then they wouldn't need a word for it - it'd just be normal.
Phil Perry Posted April 20, 2017 Author Posted April 20, 2017 Marty. If you wish to wear a tee shirt which says that you are a feminist, or an anything elseist, I would take up arms to protect your right so to do. As I ALSO love and believe in 'Equality' but tend to wear boring tee shirts with pictures of Gloster Gladiators et al; so that others can tell that I'm a flying geek. Octave. Thank you for your kind and polite concern for my evident mental condition, this is genuinely appreciated. ("I drafted this as a public message but I am quite a gentle person and I don't enjoy hurting people. from your posts I can see that you are quite angry and unhappy and perhaps not having such a good life which is quite saddening.") I am actually not, an unhappy person. ie, I tend to smile and laugh far more than gurn or cry. I have a wonderfully loving, close knit albeit geographically extended family and yes indeed, some of them are gay. They also show their affection for those that they love. The only slight difference is that they do not broadcast this on a national media platform, where it has absolutely nothing to do with the story, nor the plot.. Odd descriptions used in my piece are bantered about in our family in a purely humorous manner and give rise to no offence whatsoever. . . One of my Brothers in Law has been in a same sex relationship for over ten years, they came to help me build a new workshop last summer, and the banter between them was utterly hilarious. . .however, I will not post any of that here. I regret that it caused you some offence. ( Incidentally, Ian has separated the 'What's Up Australia' site from Recreational flying, so that other things can be posted, leaving the RF site free for what it was intended for.) With that, I shall take my leave and away to the Dental Surgery, for a 1330 appointment, whereupon a really lovely Lady is going to sort the root canals in a left upper molar to prepare the way for some prosthetic gnashers. This procedure will take, I am told, around 1.25 Hours . . . I hope that it doesn't hurt. . .
bexrbetter Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Are you suggesting that the percentage of lesbian characters on TV exceeds the percentage of in society??? can you give a list of overtly lesbian people on TV so we can do the maths? I would assert that it's a far larger number than those screaming that they are Hetrosexual. It's like Vegans, Dairy Free, Lactose Intolerants, Linux Users, Creationists, I DON'T CARE! .. I'm not interested, and I don't want you in my face. Well there are some of them that I would make that exception for. I am not doubting you, but would you be so kind as to provide a link to this advertisement? It's like those Qantas adverts showing homosexual males only need apply for Steward's positions. No, they don't exist either.
Phil Perry Posted April 20, 2017 Author Posted April 20, 2017 Qantas adverts ? No. I don't think I want to know.
Phil Perry Posted April 20, 2017 Author Posted April 20, 2017 Apparently, today is the anniversary of the birth of one Adolph Schickelgruber, later known as Adolf Hitler. This man was credited with dragging his people out of poverty, re-industrialising after a terrible war, pushing Fred Porsche to design and build a family car( which is still being produced to this day.) . . creating Full employment, insisting upon equality of the genders. . . Improving general education whilst also forcing all young people to attend youth camps, thereby removing youth crime at a stroke. And he also industrially murdered 6+ million people that he didn't like, and destroyed most of Europe along with his own country, dragging 2/3rds of the world into his dream. . . . Jerry_Atrick Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Er... you'd prefer she didn't? Er.. to clarify, when I said "the offensive bit is wearing the T-Shirt", I meant "offensive bit" as a noun, not a verb-ish thing. In other words, "Offensive Bit" is the thing wearing the T-Shirt.... Sheesh! Anything else and next time I try to enter Aus, I will be the subject of a Nothing to Declare episode being ejected on espousing ideals repugnant to a civil society...

I knew exactly what you meant, but it was funnier to pretend I didn't.

You think YOU'VE got troubles mate! ,. . .I had a phone call from Malcolm Turnbull's private secretary earlier this evening,. . .he said,. . .PHIL MATE. . . .Don't come back,. . .you've upset half the population of this great country, and, well,. . .we've been forced to rescind your dual nationality. Not only this,. . . .our Queensland State Archives show that you have an unpaid speeding penalty from Loganholm in 1982,. . .this has increased, with interest to $987,521.38. . . .please send a cheque by return ( IN Sterling, . .. not them bloody Euros please )

You also forgot him being credited with hyperinflation and reducing the standard of living, as well as totalitarian rule of his own people, suppression of free speech and killing his own people who dared not to actively support/agree with him, let alone disagree with him. As well as setting a regime that was the inspiration for the Sounds of Music!
Jerry_Atrick Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 I know there are some people that are going to be offended by this, but I found it funny:
facthunter Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 I can't see how being tolerant of different people is a bad thing. As said Homosexuality has been around forever and my personal situation is my choice and they should have theirs. Fitting everyone into compartments is stripping their particular self of any "real" existence as an individual entity in their own right and as you start from a presumption that a certain situation is correct based on "normal" (whatever that is). Nev
old man emu Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 In an evolutionary sense, sexual activity that does not promote reproduction is a dead end. However, humans have added higher survival needs to sexuality, and that has allowed the recognition of same sex pairings as a normal survival mechanism for humans. The perception of male same sex parings is that the participants are drooling sex fiends, constantly interrupting their otherwise normal lives to engage in sexual encounters. Can you identify anyone in your hetero circle of acquaintances who cannot control sexual urges? About the only homosexual men I cannot stand are those who ponce it up outrageously - theatrically, even. As I have said before, as long as a person turns up to work when required, and does a fair share of it, I don't care who they share the fart sack with. OME
Jerry_Atrick Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 In an evolutionary sense, sexual activity that does not promote reproduction is a dead end. <snip> OME Erm - sometimes the dead end version would be preferable compared to some of the evolutionary objects created including one pictured above...
bexrbetter Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 I know there are some people that are going to be offended by this, but I found it funny: I found the foundation funny as well to most Leaders, but moot for the specific target because it's simply too early to decide if it applies or not.
Jerry_Atrick Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 He He.. This had me laughing, even if a little out of culture...
Marty_d Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Yep... the two most common elements in the universe... hydrogen and stupidity.
Jerry_Atrick Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 re I get no image, just "Server not found". try again.. as it is coming in bith my post and reply.. Maybe a firewall issue? Anyway, another from the same site:
