My very first thought about that electrical box with the circuit breakers, is that it's in Nigeria, and fully approved by the local witchdoctor.

Why !.

I've had to replace all  my " wire " fuse's with " Bunnings " circuit breakers.

Horrible job , standing in the rain rewiring the fuses.  ( in Australia ) .

Next job , cut a board for the electrical distribution board .

( or is cutting board. an electrical trade secret ).

Space, I'm quite worried about you fiddling with the switchboard yourself. 

I don't mind hooking up the occasional power point but I wouldn't go near the switchboard.

Still interested in WHY no sparky will work on your place.
