They always blame the dog when it attacks, never that they were poking it with a stick for half an hour beforehand.

Perhaps we should not blame the dog, after all it lacks the intellectual capacity to use reason but we still protect people from animals that can be provoked into violence.

I have never used physical force against another adult or child, at least not since I was a child. I do nit believe in the notion veing provoked into physically harming someone.

Octave, I used to believe that. But There are situations where normal behavioural logic (and normal safety valves) can fail.

For instance, a long period of systematic psychological abuse can culminate in breakdown of a normal person's quiet, controlled behaviour. Until you experienced this, it is easy to make simplistic blame judgements.

PS, ive never assaulted anyone, but have been assaulted, without having to resort to a violent response

WHOAH everyone Please. . . .

I saw that meme and it was very prescient; as have a garage and two other outbuildings stuffed full of computers / parts and my Good Lady is nagging me all the time to clear them out. She has never, ( to my knowledge ) physically attacked me though. In this regard, it was a poor choice of picture, I had not intended to illustrate domestic violence per se.
