octave Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 They always blame the dog when it attacks, never that they were poking it with a stick for half an hour beforehand. Perhaps we should not blame the dog, after all it lacks the intellectual capacity to use reason but we still protect people from animals that can be provoked into violence. I have never used physical force against another adult or child, at least not since I was a child. I do nit believe in the notion veing provoked into physically harming someone.
nomadpete Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Octave, I used to believe that. But There are situations where normal behavioural logic (and normal safety valves) can fail. For instance, a long period of systematic psychological abuse can culminate in breakdown of a normal person's quiet, controlled behaviour. Until you experienced this, it is easy to make simplistic blame judgements. PS, ive never assaulted anyone, but have been assaulted, without having to resort to a violent response
Phil Perry Posted July 2, 2018 Author Posted July 2, 2018 WHOAH everyone Please. . . . I saw that meme and it was very prescient; as have a garage and two other outbuildings stuffed full of computers / parts and my Good Lady is nagging me all the time to clear them out. She has never, ( to my knowledge ) physically attacked me though. In this regard, it was a poor choice of picture, I had not intended to illustrate domestic violence per se.
pmccarthy Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 I have outbuildings stuffed with motorbikes and my wife says why don’t you go to the airfield and play with your aeroplane.
