old man emu Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Dunno about horse being able to read, but they soon learn sign language. 1
spacesailor Posted August 23 Posted August 23 The old horses either did read , or memorise the road signs. As they walked to the corner , then stop at the " stop " sign . The driver would walk past then wait for the horse-cart to catch up ,( while chattingto his customer ) . Bread milk coal & tinker . People would rush out to ' pick up' the horse shit for the garden . We didn't have any garden . spacesailor 1
spacesailor Posted August 23 Posted August 23 (edited) The " Archers , an every day story in the life of country folk " . The gardener ( Gabriel ) was told repeatedly, not to use the shit word . pmccarthy Posted August 23 Posted August 23 In many very old photos you will see a sign which says Walk Around Corners. This was to tell horses or horse drawn vehicles not to trot, canter or gallop. The offence for doing so was Furious Driving. 2

Still going, and is the most boring thing to listen to on earth (IMHO). If you want, I am sure you can get it on a streaming service.

If nomad's post confuses you, I had double posted the theme to Blue Hills here and in another thread. I deleted my post from this thread, but nomad had posted his before I deleted mine. 1 1
