facthunter Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 There are tram stops right near Essendon Airport but I doubt you will choose to fly out of there. IF you do, just look around and remember we flew B 727s in an out of there in all kinds of weather.. Nev
spacesailor Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 to my knowledge !. None at . Bankstown, Camden richmond, or the Oaks. There's a harbour at Kingsford-smith airport . But No ferry terminal . And ! , I think there's a railway station . But only to the Sydney cbd , Change trains for anywhere else . Quicker & more convenient by car . Or private mini-bus . OUTER-SUBS TO AIRPORT by car ,ONE HOUR . BY RAIL TWO ! . in packed a train with your luggage to carry The New airport at Baggeries Creek will be half that distance to the suburbs. spacesailor

spacesailor Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Two trains ,! One train every 25 minutes, to central, then catch that " airport train " to the airport . Two hours IF lucky . And , when was the last time you travelled by car in Sydney. The roads are now back to precovid days , with all roads officially " slow " . Parramatta to Richmond Two hours during peak times . Now thats double what it used to be . spacesailor

Nev It looks like private GA operators have flown out of Essendo as I can only see commercial type flight schools on the web. That is a shame; Although my preference was Moorabbin (for Melbourne), Essendon was quite handy I have flown form Essendon quite a few times and found it to be absolutely fine. Lots of different aircraft - bizjets, turboprops, rotors, and the like. Never had to delay of any noticable length of time, nor asked to expedite as I had been many times at Moorabbin. Alll this was before retail space encroached the runway approach/departure paths. But, then, I cannot really compare as I had flown from Essendon maybe 10 - 15 times. But, if there were private renters there, I would probably have set it up as my base because I don't want to have to rely on a car. Edited July 24, 2023 by Jerry_Atrick
facthunter Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 It's not difficult to operate from and would probably be safer than Moorabbin. but more expensive I think.. When there's a North wind a lot of Tullamarine arrivals will be tracking via Essendon, but above you.. Nev
