onetrack Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 I liked the T-shirt the 77 yr old milliner in an ABC story was wearing - "It's weird being the same age as old people". 2

Give me real music - The Beach Boys, Easybeats, Eric Burdon, The Who and even Stones and Beatles. 2 1
Marty_d Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 OME prefers the music of Karl Marx to Richard Marx. 2

On my list would have been Lynard Skynard, chuck Berry, and many others 2 1

onetrack Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 I've got fond memories of listening to more than a few episodes of "Blue Hills" on the ute radio whilst eating lunch in farmers paddocks during dam building earthworks. One lovely old couple I used to work for, were just amazing traditionalists. You'd get notice that lunch was on in the farmhouse at midday. You'd roll up to the house on midday, and dear old Mrs Orchard would have a lovely roast dinner on for lunch, and we'd all sit down and tuck into it, while we listened to the ABC Country Hour, News and Weather. True country hospitality. 3
facthunter Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Mrs Roadkill would probably provide more protein. Nev 1
onetrack Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 (edited) Nev, no the farming couples surname was Orchard, and the roast was nearly always a roast Lamb dinner with all the trimmings. Absolutely delicious, and it beat home-made sandwiches any day! Mrs and Mrs Orchard lived long and productive lives and old Jimmy was a real gentleman. Edited November 11, 2023 by onetrack 2 1
onetrack Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Believe it or not, this Church and Park are only a few miles apart. 3

A lot of that old fashioned stuff is going out of style in today's busy world. I can remember when I was a young bloke, I used to do a bit of tractor work for my Uncle and Auntie. None of this take a lunchbox with you caper. My Auntie would drive down to the paddock where we were working at smoko and lunchtime and lay out a big picnic style meal with a big thermos of tea and proper cups. A much nicer pace of life back then. 2 1 1
