Marty_d
That reminds me of an Irishman who went for a job as a mechanic. At the interview the boss asked him "So, Paddy, do you have any experience?" Paddy says "Yes, I do!" Boss says "What was your last job?" Paddy: "I was a diesel fitter, in Myers." Boss frowns. "In Myers? I didn't know they had a car repair service!" "Oh no sir," say Paddy. "It was in ladies underthings!" "What?" says the boss. What use is a diesel fitter in ladies underthings?" "Well," says Paddy, "I were very good at sizing up the ladies sizes. Just one look and I'd pick up a bra and panties, and say "Dese 'll fit her!"

However Kentucky does have "Lick Fork" which is, depending on your sexual preference, far better. Close to Lick Fork is the Twin Knobs campground, which makes you wonder what the locals get up to around there.

Beaver Lick, Big Bone Lick and Knob Lick are there as well.
willedoo
You can see in the above Google Maps screengrab that Kathy's Little Doggy Store is not far from Knob Lick.

willedoo
Apparently it comes from areas of salt leaching to the surface which are used by animals as salt licks, referred to as just licks in Kentucky. I hadn't thought about the finger licking part in reference to Kentucky; a good observation Marty. The Colonel's goatee beard looked a bit salty as well.
