Space has the Typical POMMIE hatred of everything French. That helped Farage of the UKIP sway the Vote to leave the EU.. Propably the Most costly mistake the Poms have made  since the Falkland's War. They used to say WOGS begin at CALAIS. which I thought was a bit rough. At least they build Aeroplanes that stay in the sky. Nev

I think you will find .

The Brits were just out of bankruptcy,  to the yanks .

1953 England paid off it's loan to America , but was still beholden to them. ( 1953 coronation of Elizabeth 11 ).

Buy from us or get punished .

Up my nose !.

The money England repayed to America.

They gave it & more , to the enemy.  Leaving the brits with starving children ( in the north ) .

You wonder why I hate those Europeans .

London Paris & Berlin rebuilt,  while we northern UK kids played in the bomb sites , " guy Fawkes bonfires " burning whatever we could scrounge up .

The Colliery owners caused the starving children. Pit ponies were worth more than miners.    Nev

What colliery owners? The collieries had been nationalised into the National Coal Board.

Britain did suffer very badly as a result of WW2, but a lot of was poor planning, and poor political leadership. Harsh economic policies of the time were hard on the vast majority of the population.

Australia sent dozens and dozens of shiploads of free food to Britain in the late 1940's and early 1950's, to prevent mass starvation. This, at a time when there was still food rationing in Australia.

You have a distinct CLASS system in England. derived from the feudal system. where Blood line  Royalty etc counts for nearly everything..  It's called BS here by most anti tall  Poppy descendants of Felons. and Highwaymen.  Nev

Whilst there are remnants of the class system, notably the royals and the Duke of Westminster, and a few that still retain a sear in the house of Lords, it is largely defunct.

Though I do understand, the royals and the Duke of Westminster are exempt from inheritance tax

You'll be right, Jerry - Pete's place must be about 4 hrs drive from Hobart, over Tasmanian dog-leggy roads, and in dreadful weather! He'd probably have to turn back every second attempt to meet up!!  😄

They might  be able to actually talk to real people and use a phone for that. It's about saving kids lives. space. Today WE expect Governments to do this sort of thing. Save us from toxins and scams. Make people drive safer. Stop abuse and bullying etc etc.  Being negative all  the time is not realistic.. Nev
