Having spent much of my adult life on weight- loss campaigns, I can confirm that you lose it first from your shoulders and arms, then legs, then chest and last from that ring of fat around your gut. It is hard to hold motivation for months while you  are losing muscle mass and your waist measurement hasn’t changed. For me, weight loss has been impossible and I have put on more than a half kilo each year for the last forty years. It isn’t for want of trying, including every bullshit diet, Jenny Craig and hypnotism. I don’t disagree with OME about BMI. Perhaps Ozempic is the answer.

Read up on it before you try it. It is not for everyone.

 

There really isn't always a magic pill for every problem. In some cases there is more to obesity than eating habits. I eat far more calories than my better half, but if she eats any less there is a risk of malnourishment. In her case Ozempic would be a health risk.

For many years since I left the police, I put on weight. A couple of years ago, I was up to about 130 kgs. I've since lost about 20 kgs which is showing as a thinner face, arms and legs. However, although I feel that I have lost abdominal fat, being so big around the gut before means that the skin bulges over my belt like a deflated inner tube. So a pinch test would not be too accurate in my case.

I need to replace some well-worn T-shirts, so I had a look at what Big W had. Why do 'going-out' T-shirts have to have inane motifs or images of the current crop of American movie mayhem makers? I don't mind wearing a T-shirt with the logo of a team or product I support, if it is worn at the appropriate time, but to wear one that is wholly a fiction irks me greatly. It is hard to find a T-shirt in a plain colour, or even patterned that is free of this motif nonsense. I suppose I should simply join the wearers of Hi-Vis and blend into the crowd.

I had some aeroplane related ones made online, the shirts have outlasted all of my big w, kmart ones in regards to staying the same size and not tearing.  Redbubble was company name.

not expensive for quality, I have "vintage 182" and "only six pack i need" with instruments on front-helps find other pilots in a crowd too when noticed.

Heaps to pick from and your own designs too.

My Wife has been on another injection (wegovy I think) doctor wanted her on a dose that works slowly for loss. My doctor had told me after i gain more than i lose each time on different plans, i.e Man Challenge, lite and easy, Manshakes was because your body goes into Starvation mode and tries to save you from wasting away, due to the rapid weight lost it experiences. I have been down to 97kg and up to 129 at worst. It is really hard to stick to the courses when you go way on family trips, events and get togethers. I can do it on my own, but family is always "i dont feel like cooking or i want this tonight" and you feel obligated to partake.

I wish there was a boot camp for us "old guys" with Aeroplanes to play with or ogle, PT sessions a couple of times a day with a real tuff Staff Sargent, then maybe good old fashioned war films in the evenings, or lectures on interesting stuff like machines and cars and bikes. 6 months should do it.

Maybe too much wishful thinking.

I don't hold with those "diets", mainly because they seem to require you to buy in all sorts of ingredients you've never had before to make dishes you don't know if you will really like.

 

My guide to weight loss is quite simple. Reduce the serving size of everything, and possibly serve your meal on a bread & butter plate or entree plate.  Find out what the serving size is for the your basic meat and two veg. Mashed potato - 100 gm; veggies 1/2 cup else 100 gm, and meat about 250 gm. Try to limit your intake of foods containing flour, and, of course, try to avoid sugar as much as possible. Have treats in small servings. Probably most of your weight gain was due to pigging out on treats. Don't eat a complete take-away serving. Save some for Ron.

 

You also need a large helping of patience. After the initial quick weight loss, which is mostly water, you are doing good if you average one kilogram loss per week. Don't forget that you will reach plateaux when you won't lose weight for a week or two. Expect that. Just think. If you were able to lose one kilogram per week over six months, you'd lose close on 30 kgs.

 

I wouldn't suddenly start heavy exercise. For a start, your knees and pelvis won't handle it. Try walking 10 minutes out/ten minutes back for a month, then 15/15 for a month. It's the time taken in moving that's important, not the distance covered or the steps taken.

How about we call it an average loss of a kg per week over six months? One should set a target and hope for a bullseye, but accept a near miss as being a success.

 

I agree that too much weight loss will result in ketosis, but any metabolism of fats will produce ketones. Perhaps it is the exercise like walking or swimming that prevents the loss of muscle mass.

Normally our bodies use carbohydrates for energy. You know all about the levels of glucose in your blood. Glucose is the carbohydrate we use. It's when you use  Muscle Mass for fuel the problem starts.. It doesn't matter how slow the fat goes. You need a permanent change of lifestyle or it just goes back on again. Exercise is essential to keep muscles and ligaments in good condition, but you can experience strains and worn out joints. Cut out Crap highly Processed  food, Transfats  and sugary drinks. just drink filtered water and don't add SALT to everything.   Nev

That " liposuction " destroys the fat ' holding cells ' ,

And fat will not be stored in the place , that the Injection 

Site have marked . ( black &  blue bruising ) .

I haven't tried it myself .

That would happen if you did not eat enough - you were calorie deficient. For most of us, our excess weight is due to excess intake, so if you reduce the size of your portions, the weight will come off. Of course, you can hasten the loss if, in reducing portion sizes you abandon the nasties as facthunter has mentioned.

were ever you go you're surrounded by food ! .

The odours & visual displays,  when just walking in some suburbs . Make your mouth water . and crave food .

But I didn't give in to the false hunger pangs LoL
