Marty_d Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Bloody hell, Spacey, what are you thinking? They're almost too much work when they come out one at a time, who wants multiples! 1 2
spacesailor Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I think that too . But there seems to be a lot of couples going though, An awful lot of expense with I V F . A couple of my extended family were " sperm donors " . So this family could ( in theory) be a lot larger than known . spacesailor
red750 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Spacey, if an ejaculation contains less than 39 million sperm, it is considered a 'low sperm count'. That equals 15 million per millilitre. A high sperm count is regarded as more than 200 million per millilitre. So it's like the City to Surf marathon, lots of runners, only one winner. The finish line is when the first one reaches the ovum (egg). Occasionally there might be a dead heat, or there may be more than one egg, which results in twins. If there are four eggs, which is rare, then four sperm cross the line together, you get quads. Usually, a woman only releases one egg per cycle (normally 28 days). It is released on day 14 of the cycle, and remain valid for up to 24 hours. Then it dies. Sometimes a woman may release extra eggs, which if fertilised by some of the 39+ million sperm, then multiple births are achieved. This is referred to as hyper ovulation.
old man emu Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Wintar is icumen in, and the temperature will drop to something chilly in the 10 to 15 C range. With all my building activity last winter, I destroyed my work sloppy joes, so I went looking to buy some. I tried KMart, Big W and Lowes, but all they had were hoodies. Although I do spend a lot of time on the computer, I don't want to be caught wearing a hoodie and be mistaken for one of these devils: I guess I'll have to haunt Vinnies and the Op Shops for some pre-loved ones. 2
nomadpete Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Careful, old mate. I've heard that you can get into trouble with the police if you wear a hoodie on a warm day. 1 1
facthunter Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Just tell them to wake up to themselves and catch some REAL criminals for a change and that YOUR taxes pay their wages. . Nev
nomadpete Posted March 24 Posted March 24 (edited) Just sayin... Yesterday at colesworths, I saw half a dozen young people wearing hoodies when the sun was out. For some police that constitutes 'suspicious behaviour' and warrants lethal force to apprehend. Edited March 24 by nomadpete 1
spacesailor Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Any " headware " should be mandatory in Aussie's hot sun . A hoodie is a good thermal insulator. spacesailor
Jerry_Atrick Posted March 24 Posted March 24 This is probably what @nomadpete is referring to? https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-03-17/nsw-police-shot-western-sydney-man-bradley-balzan-inquest/103592578 1 1
old man emu Posted March 24 Posted March 24 I once policed in a low socio-economic area in the 1990s. Hoodies didn't exist back then, The uniform of choice was the flannel shirt with a checked pattern - the "flanno". If you look carefully at popular music, I think that you will find that having the hood over the head is a style copied from American rappers. Another example of the Americanisation of Aussie youth. I've even heard tell that, because of games for digital devices, pre-schoolers are beginning to say some words with an American accent. What riles me is to hear basketballers talk about "deefence" whereas it should sound like "d'fence". And I hate being asked by a waiter, "What would you guys like? 1 2
facthunter Posted March 25 Posted March 25 BrisVegas and Don't come. We are full and the weather is terrible. . Nev 1
pmccarthy Posted March 25 Posted March 25 There was a young man from Melbourne, whose parents were wealthy and well born... I forget the rest, but it has to rhyme!
spacesailor Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Hoodies were out before the fifties. Called " Duffel Coat " it had a hood . ( invented 1850s ). Used by the English naval personnel, with larger hood to cover the wearers cap . spacesailor
old man emu Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Businesses which create a DIY website and never maintain it. I thought I had found a local supplier of a part I need for the bike. Several emails and text messages later and no reply. SOOOOOOO frustrating. I bet that the mob has gone out of business. Is it any wonder that we have to place so much reliance in eBay and send money out of the country? What makes matters worse is that there is no warranty on stuff purchased via eBay, or if there is, it probably costs more to get matters settled than the cost of the item and shipping. 1
facthunter Posted March 28 Posted March 28 (edited) Plenty of people who used to supply stuff to Old IRON owners are sick and tired of everyone wanting their knowledge for nothing and have gone on to "get a life" in another game or just do their own because they like the stuff and know how to make it work reliably and have nothing to have to prove.. . It would be a quiet week that I don't get 10 or so calls rom people who start of "You don't know ME But so and so mentioned your name".. Sometimes they are genuine clever helpful people and you can tell pretty quickly. Others will never take any notice and when it's an unmitigated disaster there's ANOTHER good thing RUINED and somehow it's your fault.. Many just want it fixed cheap so they can sell it at a profit. My advice to anyone wanting stuff done IS..... IF you get someone who knows what He she is doing and will work for YOU.. HANG ON to them. They are becoming RARE. Nev Edited March 28 by facthunter 1

Nev Yep, was the same with Ducati, we had a good relationship with the specialists. as a dealer they sent the customers with new bikes to us, we would send the good customers we actually looked after to them for the older bikes. they usually had bookings 6 months in advance and loyal followings Also more then willing to share technical knowledge, both sides calling and asking questions when troubleshooting/diagnosing etc... and anyone we didn't want to deal with was passed off to the local guy that works on everything. old man emu Posted March 28 Posted March 28 I was just using that one experience relating to a part supply issue as an example. Websites are a marketing tool for a business. Too many small businesses have jumped on the "We've got a website" bandwagon without realising that a website has to be maintained. And a lot of those websites are made using cut & paste online creators, which means the person whose business is not in web design is using methods that have long since been abandoned by professional website developers. The result is like engaging a signwriter to produce an attention-getting sign for a business, and then putting the sign inside against the back wall where you toss junk. You can tell a homemade website through its poor layout; broken navigation links and pages whose text begins Ipsum lorum. Maintaining a good website is a fulltime job. My son hardly has time to phone his poor old Dad because he's always keeping head down, arse up keeping this website going https://www.bankstownsound.com.au/ Our fearless leader, Ian, will tell you much the same about keeping these two sites available. 1
facthunter Posted March 28 Posted March 28 (edited) My point in the OLD Bike Scene is you soon won't have any choice. Do you want Bike information or a website contest? Both can take time which "equals" Money.. there's machines to care for that many People would not have a clue clue what they do. Can you "LATHE" this for Me. OR will you "THROW" this motor together for me? I'll need it by next Friday. IF I win the race I've entered in you will get the .good advertising and that will help your business a heap ' Nev Edited March 28 by facthunter
pmccarthy Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Speaking of old bikes, my club holds a really great swap meet. 2 2
Bruce Tuncks Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Once, some friends from California were staying with us and she went off to buy a "tarp" and it took me a long time to figure out that she meant a "top" to go over her jeans etc. I did tell her that in Oz, a tarp is used in the old ute. 1 2
