Jerry_Atrick Posted March 18 Posted March 18 On the Morning tonight Peninsula? Geez, they'll be ripping up those grape vines if they find out
Jerry_Atrick Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Blimey! What has happened to yhe Dingo Dollar? It's howling, certainly not growling. Last time I looked, it was $1.92 to the £.. now $2.07! I don't mind it going lower when I move out, but would want a reverse very quickly 1
old man emu Posted April 3 Posted April 3 The AUD has been hovering around $0.63USD for a while now. And the GBP is worth $1.30USD. 1
facthunter Posted April 3 Posted April 3 YES because the Trumpian Dollar IS falling. (UNSURPRISINGLY). Nev 1
pmccarthy Posted April 5 Posted April 5 My gripe for the day is hotel showers that are at one end of a high bath tub. You would think a basic design rule for a shower is a flat wide base so that you can stand and move safely. I have had five days of near catastrophe stepping in and out and trying to turn. No wonder the poms avoid showering if they can’t get the design right. 1 1
spacesailor Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Don't blame the Poms too much . Most only see a shower in jail . Bad place to have a shower ! . LoL My experience with showers was at the " public slipper baths " . Don't bend Down ( to pick up the soap ) . spacesailor PS. : I didn't have running water in my childhood home . 1
Jerry_Atrick Posted April 5 Posted April 5 This preoccupation with poms not taking a shower (or bathing) is a bit of a furphy. They want you to think that so they can skimp on providing you bathroom facilities in hotels. 2 1
onetrack Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Peter, where are these dangerous showers located? I've noticed a lot of European bathrooms have some cheap and dodgy setups. I always try and aim for 4 star accommodation today, trusting that a 4 star rating helps improve ones chances of getting a nice bathroom.

But the supposed five star in Dubai had an identical setup, a high bath to step over then a narrow base to stand in. A big swinging glass panel which you can’t lean on or grab for support. And an overhead shower rose that forces you to move about to get coverage, I have nearly gone shafts up several times. 1
onetrack Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Quote I have nearly gone shafts up several times. Well, what are doing, trying to play golf in the shower? Of course, you're going to have trouble keeping your balance in that situation!
facthunter Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Standing in a bathtub with soap around would have to qualify as Bl**dy Dangerous. Don't do it. Nev 1
old man emu Posted April 8 Posted April 8 What sort of idiot puts Loctite on a grub screw in the height adjuster of any sort of stand? I scored a computer desk for nix. It has an overhead cabinet and the floor limits the distance between it and the desk top. My monitor is about 10 mm too tall with the stand's height set as it was previously. There are three screws which hold the stand at a required height. Naturally, when I tried to loosen the screws, two of the three came loosened, but the third would not budge. So now I have to have the screen tilted back at the top slightly. I can view the screen, but it is not what I really wanted.
onetrack Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Heat the screw with a small gas flame, heat destroys the loctite strength, it liquifies the loctite.
old man emu Posted April 8 Posted April 8 I really can't do anything because the risk to the monitor is too great. The way the monitor is sitting is acceptable. My gripe was simply that the screw was glued in. If that screw had come out, I would have been able to have the monitor exactly as I wanted it. Now I simply accept Plan B. 1
onetrack Posted April 9 Posted April 9 If the screw is surrounded by plastic, then an impact driver should work O.K. Monitors are pretty durable.
Jerry_Atrick Posted Thursday at 07:56 AM Posted Thursday at 07:56 AM Bought new tyres last week and have already got a leak - ran over a bloomin' screw and it lidged well into the tyre. Bloody thing! 2
old man emu Posted Thursday at 07:59 AM Posted Thursday at 07:59 AM You've been well and truly screwed! 1 1
