Jerry_Atrick Posted May 12, 2017 Author Posted May 12, 2017 Point taken, but JC and the ladies are Aus [edit - well the ladies whose names evade me at the minute, may be NZ].... And it's a good song. And I could have put a live clip up where they were playing in Warnnambool - but the sound wa rubbish...
Jerry_Atrick Posted August 19, 2017 Author Posted August 19, 2017 Got to admit - I didn't care too much for goanna when I was younger, but just bough a CD and love it... Kids are not yet into it, though... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTo0G8MRmsc
Jerry_Atrick Posted August 19, 2017 Author Posted August 19, 2017 And, unf no longer with us, but one of our greats... I believe he met the queen! 1
Old Koreelah Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 The man is gone Jerry, but never will be forgotten. One of the great protest songs of our time. The words still ring true today, three decades later. Our current leaders looked weak and uncomfortable beside his brother at the recent Garma Festival.
Jerry_Atrick Posted September 22, 2017 Author Posted September 22, 2017 @Old Koreelah - meant to respond a while ago... I agree - was a great protest song.. got a lot of us thinking when we were younger and not so brainwa... er... comatosed...
Jerry_Atrick Posted September 22, 2017 Author Posted September 22, 2017 BTW - [edit] after [/edit] a couple of Wolf Blass' tonight - Yellow Label (I know, Aus exports its carp)... but found this when looking for nostalgia:
Jerry_Atrick Posted September 22, 2017 Author Posted September 22, 2017 A little too much Wolfie tonight...
Jerry_Atrick Posted September 22, 2017 Author Posted September 22, 2017 What a voice (and what a song?!):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8-YMpYbRqY
Yenn Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Nobody seems to like my favourite Aussies. The seekers. I reckon Judith Durham has the nicest womans voice I have ever heard.
Jerry_Atrick Posted September 23, 2017 Author Posted September 23, 2017 @Yenn - I recall our family having a Seekers album.... Hop onto yootoob and find your favourite clip and link it here... TBH - I can't recall a song of theirs (I was relatively young at the time).
Jerry_Atrick Posted September 24, 2017 Author Posted September 24, 2017 Amazing what one forgets as they years roll on.... Great clips..and great renditions of iconic Aussie songs...
Old Koreelah Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 That just adds to my disdain for Sinatra.
Jerry_Atrick Posted October 27, 2017 Author Posted October 27, 2017 Found another one you might like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gw4BjU62t5Y keep 'em coming... I was listening to Aussie folk music all day at work today... so will be posting a few more vids... (Not that this is folk, but Aus is seriously underrated worldwide in its musical talent)
Jerry_Atrick Posted October 27, 2017 Author Posted October 27, 2017 This one made it to No. 12 on the national charts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjtSpLcqETo I have this single! Bought the missus a record player for her b/day (plugs into the hi fi via USB), I knew it was a present that had a dual purpose!
Jerry_Atrick Posted October 27, 2017 Author Posted October 27, 2017 OK.. this is a US band... and I am not a Richmond supporter (although, if my team isn't in the hunt, they are a team I would almost support), this is fantastic... (OK - his signing is actually pretty, ahem, ship... but still I like it) Reiwoldt doesn't do a half bad job given the circumstance... Much like his team mate who took and distributed a photo of someone else wearing the premiership medal - which seems to be very well composed, technically, of course!
Jerry_Atrick Posted October 27, 2017 Author Posted October 27, 2017 Now, I have no idea what it is like to be at war.. I am lucky - born in the 60s so after conscription and now too old to be conscripted to the next conflict. However, although most of my HSC (VCE students - google what it means) was quantitative and business based, I did retain Aussie History as a subject and the 1st world war was predominantly featured. So, while I can't really comprehend, I can somewhat empathise (they didn't sugar coat the subject).. Great track - brought a tear to my eye - while I was listening at work.
Jerry_Atrick Posted October 27, 2017 Author Posted October 27, 2017 Blimey - I thought it was a Williamson original.. I found this... Amazing!!!! (Edit: Mind you, Willamson's is also amazing... )
Geoff13 Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Another from Slim. This one is close to my heart. I have many mates with their names upon the wall. I am lucky that mine is not there having survived an off that could have easily had a far worse result for me.
