Trevor is a member of my cycling group, and we are trying to raise money to get him a handcycle after a bike accident left him quadriplegic. If you go to this link and vote for Trev, he may win $5000 , enough to get him an electrically assisted handcycle.

Here's a bit of background;

Despite spending nine months in hospital after a bike accident in Fig Tree Pocket last year, Trevor Ward is really keen to get back on his bike.

Unfortunately, the accident left him a partial quadriplegic, so a regular bike is out of the question but a hand cycle would fit the bill. Riding means Trevor could continue to socialise with his bike riding mates and it would also help out with his rehab. But at around $5,000 for an electric hand cycle, it's a bit out of reach for Trevor.

Luckily, Trevor is a member of Bicycle Queensland and we want to help him get back on a bike. If Trevor get his bike, members of his local bike riding club have committed to riding with him regularly and hopefully he will go on to inspire others to go beyond their physical limitations and find ways to get out bike riding.

Here's a shot of Trev trying out a handcycle at Cycle Qld with the rehab staff from PA hospital.

Please note, this is not a request for donations, just a request for a minute of your time to go to the Sunsuper site and vote for Trev's cause.

Thanks :)

I meant to check this earlier and drum up more votes before it finished but gladly Catherine won the grant for Trevor. I bet it'll make a wonderful difference for him.

Well done Catherine Baker, and all the Recflying folks who took the time to give Trev a vote!

Sorry to take so long to check back on this, but yes Trevor won! Thanks heaps to all who voted! I will update this when he gets the hand cycle. With the money from this and the other fundraising he may be able to afford a hoist to get him in and out of the hand cycle - which helps him become more independent. Thanks again, a good result!

No way this clip should be on a WIMP website, he is nearly as unstoppable as our mate Sam! http://www.sambailey.com.au/default.asp?PageID=43 or Glenn Todhunter for that matter, incredibles blokes. Sam and little red ultralight he used to fly around here in was one of my biggest motivations to learn to fly.

http://www.sambailey.com.au/default.asp?PageID=39&n=Sam27s toys can some one have a look at the bottom of this page and tell me what model Sam's ultralight is?

Sorry : silly question Google images tells me it is an MX2 as well, Gt400 is the Quicksiver image I had in my head, guess they had to start somewhere.

Just a quick update - we had a simple handover ceremony this morning, and now Trev can get that handcycle with electric motor. We're still fundraising to get him a hoist and other things to help him towards independence. Thanks again to all who voted to support Trev's cause!
