kgwilson Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 One of the truly great comedians. I've seen this many times & it still cracks me up. More of Daves religious jokes
nomadpete Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Yeah, he's good! Thanks for reminding me how good. But sadly I bet we won't see any reruns of his humour on tv. I just spent the last hour watching Dave Allen clips on YouTube.
facthunter Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 IF he gets to Heaven, God would have to have the sense of humour I would like HiM SHe IT to have. irreverent and funny. (Always smoking) Nev
Phil Perry Posted January 30, 2018 Author Posted January 30, 2018 IF he gets to Heaven, God would have to have the sense of humour I would like HiM SHe IT to have. irreverent and funny. (Always smoking) Nev I saw him at live shows twice Nev,. . .hilarious, and, as well as the cigarettes,. . .he always had a glass of whiskey ( Irish of course ) on the table next to where he sat.
facthunter Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Life needs a sense of humour more than it needs religion. I still had a (tiny) bit of it back then. It's a while ago, mate.. Inimitable I would rate him.. Nev
Marty_d Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Our friends in Germany showed us this one at Christmas. English comedian named Freddy Frinton, I think. Absolute classic!
facthunter Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 I'm not an anglophile but they do comedy BEST. Nev
Phil Perry Posted February 4, 2018 Author Posted February 4, 2018 I'm not an anglophile but they do comedy BEST. Nev Well Nev,. . . I'm only ( technically ) Part Aussie,. . .so I hope you still Part like this Anglophile. . . . .
facthunter Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Yes, I won't blame you for their worst mistakes. as I hope you don't blame me for some of our. (very) bad policies.. I think it's a bit funny the have the Union Jack in our flag, and to possibly end up with Charlie as our King. Nev.
Marty_d Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Charlie won't be king. I don't think he's got any desire to be. I reckon he'll be like his great-uncle and abdicate - it'll be King Willie next. (Kaiser Wilhelm??)
Jerry_Atrick Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Either would be better than El Presidento Turnbull..
Jerry_Atrick Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 An episode of one of my son's and my favourite shows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lm8pKIVKUYM And a snippet of another (p.s why are Aussie IP owners so anal about putting stuff up on youtube... They will probably make much more money than flogging it through Myers and Amazon)
Yenn Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I reckon Charles will be king, just so that his wife can lord it over all those that hated her. I would be sorry for William if he had to do the job for as long as the Queen has done. I very much doubt that anyone could do the job as well as Elizabeth.
Geoff13 Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Charlie won't be king. I don't think he's got any desire to be. I reckon he'll be like his great-uncle and abdicate - it'll be King Willie next. (Kaiser Wilhelm??) I disagree, I think he wants it that bad he can taste it. I reckon if it goes on much longer he might try and get Mummsy committed or worse. Beside Camilla won't let him abdicate she probably wants it worse than him.

Beside Camilla won't let him abdicate she probably wants it worse than him. Camilla won't be around much longer. Things are not rosy in paradise, is the rumour. And I think Charlie would rather spend his days talking to his vegie garden than wear the crown.
Phil Perry Posted February 6, 2018 Author Posted February 6, 2018 An episode of one of my son's and my favourite shows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lm8pKIVKUYM And a snippet of another Bill Bailey is a great comic and an accomplished musician. .. I assume you've seen his one man shows ?. . .one of my favourites is 'Bill Bailey - Part Troll'. . .sublime. . .
Jerry_Atrick Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Indeed I have, Mr Perry - My son is yet to come aruond to his subtle and clever humour... it won't take long, though...
Bruce Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 The institution of the monarchy is bizarre to say the least. You can imagine a dominant animal being like the king for awhile, but to dominate the other animals so completely that your mantle gets passed down to your offspring in perpetuity has only ever happened in our particular species of apes.
facthunter Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 Doesn't it have a parallel in the animal KING dom? Strength or whatever work there. Inheriting it is questionable as when they marry amongst them selves the Gene pool gets a bit deficient. Pure breds are a problem that mongrels don't have. Nev.
Bruce Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 Nope Nev it doesn't. Humans are the only animals to have thugs ( knights ) to assist them in their fight to retain dominance, and we are certainly the only ones where the dominant animal can pass on their authority to their (possibly weak) offspring. And the concept of "noble blood" is ridiculous. The nobles were taller because they ate better.
facthunter Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 A NO Bull society would be nice. I wonder if people could cope with the dramatic change . Reality might be a shock..Nev
Bruce Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Bugger, there are no monarchists here willing to argue their ridiculous points. And no creationists either. Who scared them off, or don't they really exist?
Marty_d Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Isn't that why we have reality tv? Not much reality in that.
