I had a ride in a stop-start diesel Volvo yesterday. Barely noticed it stop at the lights and the start was silent and faster than the turbo lag on my car.

The aircond (compressor) stops though. Wouldn't make a lot of difference short term if the fan keeps going. Older cars were very inefficient. The new small cars go very well. Handling brakes power economy driver legroom etc. Some are a bit too much road noise in the back seat, and generally. Can't have everything. Lots of plastic. Don't know what a headlight assembly would cost . Nev
