spacesailor Posted January 7 Posted January 7 I only answered those companies that touted cheap ' roof-top ' solar. With my " stand- alone " solar . they said " can't be done " . spacesailor
onetrack Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Well Spacey, the answer "can't be done" should've been qualified with the reasons why. The reasons may have been your proposal was electrically unsound, it didn't meet electrical regulations, or it didn't meet council regulations. Any electrical installation that produces more than 24V must be installed by a licenced electrical contractor, even if it's not connected to the grid.
spacesailor Posted January 8 Posted January 8 they didn't want the job !. Or the , job rewiring my distribution board for the ' Earth Leakage Circuit breaker . That's supposed to be compulsory on selling the house . spacesailor 1
facthunter Posted January 8 Posted January 8 It's compulsory to do it before any other work is done with the electrical circuitry or you continue to be supplied.. It's unsafe mate. Also expect things like old stoves and bench grinders to blow the circuit breaker. These things stop plumbers and plasterers etc from being electrocuted and you too if you still use corded tools or borrowed leads.. Nev 1 1
spacesailor Posted January 8 Posted January 8 (edited) Yes ! But What does one do , when you call electrical contractors, who don't want your job . DIY. ELECTRICIAN . spacesailor PS. : what size ( 3 or 4 core ) wire do I need from 'Bunnings' PPS. : could I keep the light circuit as is ? . Edited January 8 by spacesailor PPS added for fun facts 1
spacesailor Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Yes we oldies are in the age group that lived before the " certified tradesmen " had jobs Who taught the " first tradie " to pass their exam . My late brother & I taught under-water diving in the late 50s before certification. Copied Jacques Cousteau. & others who dabbled. Then we had to go to the people we taught to fill our air tanks , then they stopped us using ' rebreathers . spacesailor 1
Jerry_Atrick Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Who taught the first person to fly? Are you suggesting we go back to being self-taught? 1
spacesailor Posted January 9 Posted January 9 IF. Those Bureaucrats weren't happy then I 'would' be 🤩 Happy as Larry ! . Happy spacesailor
facthunter Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Yes you don't appear to like them much .Unfortunately they ARE necessary, Nev
spacesailor Posted January 9 Posted January 9 How are they necessary !. The Victorian BUILDINGS WILL BE COMPLETED QUICKER . With-out the those expensive permits, & duplicates. Ad- nousium . Look at Sydney's expensive " taxi " licences. $ 10s of thousands. To be called " A Taxi " . This list of heartache for the population is endless . including Raa's " wing loading " . ( CLAUSE ) . spacesailor 1
facthunter Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Oh F K You Definitely Must subsidise my anti-depressant medication. Sell that Hummel Bird and get a life. Nev 1

red750 Posted January 14 Author Posted January 14 Did you know a few military pilots have shot themselves down? https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/aviation/a27967/the-fighter-plane-that-shot-itself-down/ https://nationalinterest.org/blog/reboot/f-14-tomcat-fighter-did-impossible-it-shot-itself-down-210068 https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/aviation/a27078461/dutch-f-16-flew-into-its-own-gunfire/ 1
red750 Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 Things are getting a bit heavy. Let's lighten up a bit. Did you know a law was passed in the US to ban Pringles from being called chips because they contain less than 20% potato. That's why they are called crisps. (QI) 1
Litespeed Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Then what the fuck is the other 80% of this potato product? Dioxins? 1
onetrack Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Did you know that Smiths Potato Chips (the Original, they claim), contains only 64% potato? I'm with Litespeed, WTF does the other 36% comprise?? Sunflower oil and salt and maybe a sprinkle of citric acid as a preservative, wouldn't make up 36%? Maybe they're measuring the air in the bag?? 1
nomadpete Posted January 23 Posted January 23 1 minute ago, red750 said: Oil and starch. I thought the potato was the starch component.
onetrack Posted January 23 Posted January 23 (edited) Starch is not mentioned as an ingredient on the Smiths Potato Chips bag. The ingredients list is only, Potato (64%), Salt, Citric Acid (preservative), Sunflower oil, and I think it also says Rosemary is added (spice). Edited January 23 by onetrack
pmccarthy Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I know they are rolled and stamped out of pulp. No resemblance to a potato. 1
onetrack Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Don't you just love the methodology of food ingredients listings? Find a fancy name for the industrial product used to adulterate your food, and no-one will be any the wiser. "Mono- and Diglycerides" are emulsifiers manufactured by reacting low grade oils and fats with a catalyst, at high temperatures. They are also known as "partially hydrogenated oils". They contain a large amount of trans fats and are regarded as unsafe to eat by the Institute of Medicine. They are linked to approximately 20,000 heart attacks in the U.S. https://delinigelato.com/post/food-additives-which-to-avoid
