Go and get covers having to GO somewhere to GET the spanner. Go TO get is a bit pedantic in the normal context. Nev.

An interesting one.

You could ask an apprentice to "go and get the spanner", which would imply that the apprentice knows to go somewhere specific and once there select a spanner. There is also the implication that the apprentice returns with the spanner.

"Go to get the spanner" could imply leaving the vicinity and going somewhere that a spanner could be obtained, such as in "I have to go to the tool supplier to get a Whitworth widget".

I think that's where being pedantic comes in. It's all dependent on the context of the act of leaving.  Probably the clearest way to say such a thin would be to say "Go to the (place where it is) and get it". But that would introduce too many words, and speech between individuals usually involves a reduction in total words used.

I am going to go is one of my least liked contraptions. I shall go or I will go or even I am going, better still I'me off, which those of you who have been close to me would agree with.

Sounds good !.

When ' Phoetic spelling ' was the rage, that learning curve wouldn'twork,

AND

Those kids had a hard time getting work, as prospective employers, took their spelling as a sign of something very wrong with them.

Calling all cars! Calling all cars. KLO4 a missing apostrophe. Missing from between 'e' and 's' where it was acting as an elision.

What's the standard penalty for a missing apostrophe?

Hang on while I dash off to get the answer.

But not necessarily rise to the bait.

I'll accept some ones when they come from an English opener.
