spacesailor Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 (edited) It,s the equivalent of ' stock-car racing '. If you like cars going in circles for hours. OR Horse racing, half a dozen horses going around a Melbourn track, were Australia stops for the whole day !. spacesailor Edited April 25, 2022 by spacesailor
facthunter Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 Lost a few horses there somewhere. At least they go in the right direction in Victoria. It's been a big deal since I was a kid and that's close to forever. Nev
spacesailor Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 Which way is the right way, is it left or is it right , OR Is it Round. LoL ( i,ll ask a dyslexic ). spacesailor
old man emu Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 I say, Old Bean, one must gallop one's horse with the clock, not against it. To run against the clock is to maintain the affront to the glorious memory of his Royal Highness King George III perpetrated in 1787 by one William Whiteley in what was His Majesty's colony of Kentucky. Not only did that scoundrel run his horses against the clock, he did so on a clay surface. https://horseracingsense.com/why-are-horse-races-run-counter-clockwise/ 1
willedoo Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 I see that Alex De Minaur has made it into the ATP Top 10, the first Australian to do so since Lleyton Hewitt in 2006. He'll be in good form for the Australian Open this year. 1 1
willedoo Posted January 26 Author Posted January 26 It's a tough gig for some of the juniors. I was looking at today's match schedule and there's a Bulgarian and an Australian about to face off in the junior girls singles semi final. Both girls only finished their quarter final matches less than two hours ago. I guess they're young and fit enough to do back to back matches like that.
red750 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Jannik Sinner has beaten Novak Djokavic. Sinner is now the first Italian tennis player, male or female, to reach the final of the Australian Open 1
Marty_d Posted January 26 Posted January 26 He's in the wrong sport. If he was into marathons, the crowd could be singing "Oh Sinner, man, where you gonna run to??" 1
willedoo Posted January 27 Author Posted January 27 The commentators were saying that Jannik Sinner lives in the north of Italy, up near the Austrian border and his first language is German. Out of curiosity I had a look at the area on Google Maps street view and all the signage is bilingual. The architecture is very Austrian/German; nothing much resembles the Italy we usually think of. 1
spacesailor Posted January 27 Posted January 27 We ' Were ' watching that match . But we blinked & it was the news. . Missed that important final . spacesailor
willedoo Posted January 29 Author Posted January 29 That was a poor show at the presentation ceremony of the men's final. No matter whether people love or loathe the PM, booing him at the ceremony is not the right place and time to do it. It was Jannik Sinner's night and the idiots were doing their best to spoil the ceremony. A bunch of entitled f'wits who could afford $3,500 for a ticket were obviously not happy their tax cuts had been reduced. Politics and sport are a bad mix. 2
spacesailor Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I thought the " boo " was for the ' missing ' Albanese ' . I believe he was the logical choice to present the award . spacesailor 1
facthunter Posted January 29 Posted January 29 The tennis crowd has done some unpleasant things a few times. Only the English Soccer fans make them look OK. Having the PM do the presentation was a significant honour I would expect. Sky and Merdey are playing it up for all it's worth. Late night watching it. I don't think Medvedev was in the best physical condition. They both hit some great shots and returns and both plenty of unforced errors. Sinner is only 22 years old. He deserves better behaved supporters. Nev 2
willedoo Posted January 29 Author Posted January 29 It might have been a different game if Medvedev wasn't so tired out from his previous long matches. He's a tough one to beat. I think Scotty from Marketing also got booed at one of the previous finals when he was PM. It's not right at an event like that, no matter which side they're on. 2 1
facthunter Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I heard it was about 1 grand for a ticket. That gives you a clue about where they come from. Your average battler can't possibly afford that. Medvedev has skin blemishes on his nose and left cheek.. Nev

facthunter Posted January 29 Posted January 29 No I'd rule that out. Couldn't be that localised and colour. . Nev
onetrack Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I was informed it's traditional to boo politicians when they show up at major sporting events. I think it's poor form. 1 2
willedoo Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 It's a small world. I was looking at a Ukrainian seller's listing on eBay and he had a video clip of the item in addition to the usual photos. I clicked on the video and the background noise in his house was an Australian Open tennis match playing loudly on the TV. Most likely they were watching Ukraine's Dayana Yastremska play. 3

spacesailor Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Definitely the yellow one , is it at the " Oaks " ? . I did fly one . spacesailor 2
willedoo Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 They'd probably be a good little aircraft for station work, like mustering and bore running. 1 1
