I agree with you that it is not likely to be 'great', and therefore I'm not optimistic for the American people, and the rest of the World. The point I was trying to make was that this time the people in the Inner Circle will be more unified in their goals and approach to Trump than the inexperienced go-getters of the first administration were. I'd say that there will be a steady hand on the helm of the ship of State, but the course it sails might might not keep it clear of rocky shoals. 1

The inexperienced go-getters of his first term are now the people in his inner circle, and they are unified. That’s exactly the problem. They wrote Project 2025 even though Trump denies that he knows who they are. The first time around the chaos and a few sane voices meant he couldn’t get that much done. This time it’s likely to be very different. 1 1

Nev I have always wondered why people live with $10 per hour wages, and tolerate it. My daughter was on $15 at maccas when she started. In Hawaii we saw an add for manager at $11 for full time You couldn't rent a hovel for under $400 per week. How would you live, 100 hours per week? And live frugal? I would rather live i the woods and survive on my own than that. 2 1

facthunter Posted November 7 Posted November 7 (edited) Mussolini got the trains running on time. Show Trump HOW HE ended up being treated. Trump told them what they wanted to hear.AND they BELIEVE him. Now for the reality.. MUSK is going to MARS That will be a one way Trip. The earth won't be a place you can live in. Trump SAYS America doesn't have many geniuses??? FUNNY thing to say actually. Nice Freudian slip? Trump regards HIMSELF as a GENIUS but would HE really Know? onetrack Posted November 7 Posted November 7 (edited) Trump won? This must be the biggest Trumped-up election ever held!! 😄 Isn't it interesting how Joe Biden conceded the loss? A gracious outgoing speech, and an orderly handover in the transition. No screaming and ranting about fraud, illegal voters, stacked ballot boxes or even any attempt to rally backers to stop the handover in a violent fashion. That'll come with the next Presidential election, no doubt. https://thenightly.com.au/politics/us-politics/us-election-president-joe-biden-calls-for-unity-after-ramrod-vice-president-kamala-harris-loses-election-c-16677592 I guess winners here are the wall builders, I bet they're lining up to get a piece of the action making America into one huge gated community - because they're all terrified of the invaders at the border. Fear and loathing were the winners in this election. Imagine what's going to happen to the DOJ, it will be gutted, and Trump appointees will take their place, to hunt down all those criminal Democrats. No doubt Ivan Raiklin, the scariest murderous criminal I've ever seen, will be appointed to run the DOJ. He has a list of 300 Democrats he's going to jail and execute. Calls himslef the Secretary of Retribution. He's another Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma bomber, in a sheep costume. How this threatening criminal thug Raiklin, ever got to be an Intelligence Lt Col in the military, and a lawyer, is a mystery to me. Meantimes, every Jan 6 criminal now in jail will be pardoned and released, and probably given special medals, because they're actually wrongfully-jailed heroes! Edited November 7 by onetrack
nomadpete Posted November 7 Posted November 7 To quote 'The Conversation': "In “The Republic,” Plato says that democracy and tyranny are natural bedfellows. Democracy is rule by the rabble, in Plato’s view. It is the rule by the lowest common denominator. In a democracy, passions are inflamed and proliferate. Certain individuals may take advantage of and channel the storm of ignorance, Plato feared, and consolidate power out of a desire to serve their own interests." I'm not saying we should ditch it. But it is time for the public to take time to be well informed, and to take part in democracy.

Marty_d Posted November 8 Posted November 8 The problem with US democracy is that the people aren't required to engage in it. Therefore you will only get the motivated on each side. Obviously this time there weren't enough on the Dem side motivated to stop Trump.
facthunter Posted November 8 Posted November 8 There May never again be a normal election. It will probably resemble Russia where Poutain gets in with about 98% of the vote and any contenders have a short life expectancy. Was it Churchill who said "Democracy is the worst system, except for all the others"? Yes it's a pity that a $#!t for brains person's vote equals that of a thinking person but there you go. Nothings perfect. You HAVE to be able to get the CROOKS who are there for the "Spoils of Office" only, OUT. Nev 2
red750 Posted November 8 Posted November 8 They were warned by so many people, from entertainers to his own former colleagues and his own neice that he was the worst person to put in charge of the country, but the brain dead MAGA supporters swallowed his bullshit hook line and sinker. They fell for his hollow promise "I WILL FIX IT". The idiots believe that all the ills they feel have been brought about through the policies of the Democrats. They think America is the only place suffering inflation and high cost of living. "As ye sow, so shall ye reap" will bite them in the arse. But it may be too late to recover. The only thing worse is that Vance could take over what may be left. if anything will be.
red750 Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Many Hollywood stars are quitting the US and moving to the UK following Trump's win. There is also a rumor that Harry and Megan are planning to return before he gets deported.
rgmwa Posted November 8 Posted November 8 He's appointed Susie Wiles, his co-campaign manager, as his chief of staff. She seems to be well regarded by both sides of the aisle, and is a moderate Republican by all accounts, so she might at least help keep him on the straight and narrow.

rgmwa Posted November 8 Posted November 8 17 minutes ago, Marty_d said: Ideally. I give her 3 weeks We'll see. She's a lot smarter than he is. Here's a comment from Saul Eslake that Trump's supporters may come to appreciate: “People like the fact that when Trump says he will do something, he does it. The problem is that when he does what he says he is going to do, the consequences are very different to what he says the consequences will be.” 1 1

facthunter Posted November 8 Posted November 8 You'll hear "another promise Kept " often. He also said "you'll NEVER HAVE to vote Again". HE DID WARN YOU. The Brave LIZ CHANEY will have to seek asylum somewhere else. Joe still has about 50 days in office as president. Nev 1

nomadpete Posted November 8 Posted November 8 When I consider the wild spectrum of 'promises' made by our Donny, I sincerely hope he doesn't keep too many of them. He seems to have made lots more nasty ones, than beneficial ones.

facthunter Posted November 9 Posted November 9 There seems to be agreement that Joe Biden held on too long. The average person there won't handle details . They want a RICH God _Emperor who will miraculously Provide ALL the answers. They got an excellent Manipulating Snake oil Salesman. A disturbed individual that no one really KNOWS what He will do.. When the USA did their atom bomb tests they weren't sure that it would not start chain reaction that would have destroyed the Entire World. A "we'll give it a TRY, anyhow" mentality. IF there's a dollar or Power in it. . The affected People are not going to just SIT & Take it . Even some Republicas don't like Trump so you could safely say 1/2 the Country doesn't want HIM NOW. Another group won't see him keeping his promises. He Could easily drop dead. The rest of the World will judge him. I doubt HE would care one Iota about that. Anyhow you have a ringside seat, can't go to Planet 'B' and will have an ongoing difficulty separating Lies from FACT. Tesla's % of the Market will probably fall. Nev 1 1 1
