Don't get me wrong here, But I LIKE Donald Trump.

If Trump carries on the way he did in 2017 making threats to leave NATO, etc the best thing the Europeans could do is ignore him. Europe is as big an economic block as USA and they have already begun to shore up NATO with additional funding and are providing a lot more aid to Ukraine. There are a lot of large and pretty sophisticated Arms manufacturers in the UK, Sweden, France & Germany. BAE Systens is the 3rd largest in the world and arguably produce the best nuclear submarines.

Trump was told by the EU Secretary General last time that he needed to be more conciliatory & pleasant to friends stating "after all you haven't got many".

A concern amongst a lot of democrat voters was that Trump would take the US away from alliances and back in to an isolationist state as it was after the great depression till they entered the war. Trumps rhetoric certainly displays this. The world for a huge number of Americans starts and finishes at the US border. They have one of the lowest passport holder %ages in the world. Most only have passports to go to Canada. In 1989 it was only 3%. By 2017 it was nearly 40%, now its 47%. Those thinking of leaving will already have a passport. 50% don't think there is anything else in the world except the USA & everyone else wants to move there especially rapists, murderers & child molesters. They know it's true, Trump told them.

The Republican Party is now the Trump Party. Not one of the earlier Republican Presidents endorsed him.

Whicever way you cut it, this is a big win for Trump:

He polled a little under 4m more votes than Harris in the popular vote. While it isn't as big  a margin as Biden had over Trump, it is significant that Harris lost the popular vote. No doubt the media didn't help, and therre were reports of bomb scares in democrat leaning polling centres, and of course the Russian interference. But, I think they are suffering what Labour here were to some extent - out of touch clique..

My guess is that, like Trump's last administration, he will do some things that are positve, but largely screw it up. However, it is a different world now, and the challenges he had in terms of the economy, foreign policy, etc, are more volatile and fragile then when he left office. He  may well find he, like his Aussie and UK counterparts, will end up on the nose.

The Dems should be appalled at the level of voter support they lost and they need to go back to square one and figure out why they lost so badly. Kamala would never make a leader or stateswoman, and I stated that from Day One.

Obviously inflation and the cost of living has hit a lot of Americans badly - but it won't get better under Trump, it can only get worse as he brings in a huge level of tariffs, and ring-fences the U.S. from the rest of the world.

His only policies were negative - tariffs which will push prices up, hurting American jobs, deporting refugees who fill a lot of the lower paid jobs, which will rob employers of their employees causing them to go out of business or push their prices up, defunding the education department which will leave already pathetic levels of education even worse, disadvantage women and push conditions back to the 1700's level, killing more women than have already lost their lives. His abusive and name-calling rhetoric was abhorrent. I'll do the same - he's a vile piece of garbage. Many Americans are packing up and leaving. I heard this morning of a Florida shipping company offering 4 year cruises, get on board and come back in time for the next election, if shitface allows one to happen.

They have said that Biden left it too late to drop out, and that Walz was the wrong pick for VP. I've seen from a MAGA nitwit that he's so happy he won't have to listen to the cackle any more.

She was far more qualified than the other creep. Just look what they got - DJT, JDV, RFK and Elon Musk. What more could you ask for? Stick them all on a Spacex and send them to Mars.

I don't know that Kamala could have done much better in the time she had.

As for never making a leader or a stateswoman, her public speaking was excellent and made so much more sense than anything out of Trump's mouth.

Yes the election outcome is what it is, and unlike the crying orange clown in 2020 there's no attempts to overturn it or encourage revolt.

You may say that the electorate spoke, well around 2/3 of eligible voters did, the other 1/3 aren't engaged enough. I can accept the outcome but still consider them bloody stupid for doing it.

Some Republican voters are already crying foul, that they didn't realise what was in store for them. A lot comes up on my Facebook feed. Some Reps are already claiming some things have improved since the election - he hasn't even set foot in the White House yet, let alone be inaugurated.

PMC, what policies? All we've heard about is tariffs, mass deportation, imprisonment for anyone who doesn't bow down to the Halloween Pumpkin, defunding of essential services (education, medicine, law enforcement). They will soon be as bad as it is here, with police threatening strike action, teachers striking, ambulances ramping for hours with dying patients on board, etc.

I noted when the press interviewed MAGA nutters or even more conservative less bombasic republican voters they all seem to claim Trumps policies were better especially the economy inflation and cost of living. The thing is all of these things are better now under Biden that at any time under Trump. Inflation is under 3%, growth was at 2.7% in the 3rd quarter of this year. This is better that most countries.

Cost of living rose dramatically after Covid but that happened world wide. Prices will stabilise but they won't come down. This would cause deflation, something that will have a very negative effect.

If Trump goes ahead with tariffs on ALL imports & deports all the immigrants who currently do all the shit low paid jobs then I can see a major disaster ensuing. The minimum wage is still $7.50 an hour. The gap between rich & poor continues to widen.

You folks seem to be railing against the democratic outcome. The majority has spoken (MAGA nitwits?). I can see a lot of positives from a much better set of policies than the Dems had.

Yes, I agree, this is how democracy works. No point in the minority complaining about the result.

However I  cannot really comment on whether DJT's policies are of any value. So far, I do not see any reliable statement of what the new policies will be. Sure there were many rather vague election catch cries, but based on DJT's past activities, his 'policies' can be quite plastic. Worse still, there has been no statement of how the suggested radical restructuring of all bureaucracy (the deep state) will be achieved.

So far I only hear his destructive intentions, with no shining light of benefits to the electorate.

Can anyone enlighten me on how the new government of america is going to actually make the claimed miracles happen?

Every country that is a good destination has lost control of their Borders.. Trump was going to have MEXICO PAY for the fence. NOW stuff from there is going to have the highest  TARIFF. 200%. He doesn't like Mexicans. HE was also going to invade Venezuela. They had the Temerity to ELECT a Socialist Government..   Trumps is a CONMAN and a Bully.  If there are big protests He'll likely order the troops in.  Nev
