facthunter Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 How could America consider they have anything that resembles an example for the World to follow? Nev 1
Jerry_Atrick Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Regardless, sadly, many conservative pollies around the world do follow them... 1
facthunter Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 A few like our ScoMo and Bolsonaro and where are THEY now? A Bot's still running around proving what an absolute fool he is and always was. UK had his talents briefly with his "seize the Moment" rhetoric. Now most of the UK would vote to re-join the EU having destroyed it's economy over Brexit and the fall of Londongrad with Boris at the helm. Nev 1
facthunter Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 And Trump would have to be able to SPEAK too. Clapping yourself is not enough. Nev 1 1 1
rgmwa Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 If McCarthy eventually rolls over enough to somehow get his hands on the gavel, he will be so weak the loonies will run the show and Congress will be completely dysfunctional. If he doesn't, the loonies will run the show and Congress will be completely dysfunctional. What a shambles. 2
Jerry_Atrick Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 This is an interesting take on the speak roadblock. 2
old man emu Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Now I am worried! If, in September, the Debt Ceiling is not raised, will that usher in an implosion of the US Economy that will draw down the rest of the World's economies? Will it mark the beginning of the end of the Empire of the USA? At the remembrance of the January 6 attack on Congress, supporters of Trump and Biden once again clashed. Will the Republicans' failure to raise the Debt Ceiling in September be the spark that sets off the powder keg of civil war in teh USA? 1
Jerry_Atrick Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 It may well be... I hate to be the prophet (as I rarely make profit) of doom and gloom, but I think the world has been blindly sailing towards a new dark ages.. we have had a great reniassance, after all. Sadly, the sea levels are risisng, otherwise, I would be looking at real estate at some athol on the edge of the warmer part of the earth, wit a fishing rod and enough frozen pilcards to to see me through catching and dispatching fish humanely until I am returned to the earth. We have the most wealth in the world at this stage, yet, wer fight the poor rather than poverty, we hold wages back because it's too expensive, yet allow global corporations and the HNWI's (High Net Worth Individuals) get away wit not contibuting; we idolise a twerking booty and complain about doctors that work ungodly hours and are overstretched because governments put mates ahead of their country. Yes, docs are not squeaky clean.. but think about this.. An average AFL player earns more than an experienced GP.. If you can be a one-hit vrial wonder on social media can not only earn more than the value of a small nation, but they are revered for putting purile crap of little, if any value onto the internet. Wolfie refused to come tonight.. but I did find a Petaluma (one of my faves) behind the sofa... Folks, the world is changing... as it always does. Sadly, the pendulum of humanity never stops in the middle. 1
nomadpete Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Just wish I had such considerate furniture. As soon as I read your post, I went straight to the sofa and did a thorough search - but alas, it had nothing for me. 2
nomadpete Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 PS don't be too depressed about it. Although the world is indeed constantly changing, it doesn't usually change all that fast. You still have time to fix the roof and migrate to this wide brown (sodden) land. Then I'll shout a wolfie or two. 1 1
Jerry_Atrick Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Don't get me started about the roof. Supposed to have a scaffolder out yesterday to measure up and quote. No sign of him; and no call. Since Brexit, getting builders and tra\dies has been harder than getting a GP appointment! Anyway, it is pi55ing down last night with 40kt winds, so about to do some damage inspection... 1 1
Jerry_Atrick Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 No major damage.. Soccer goal and a couple of outdoor chairs blown over.. 1 2
Bruce Tuncks Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Jerry, on Grand designs, I once saw an episode where he used German contractors except for the crane... guess what stuffed up? yep, the crane. I know you think it is an outdated thing to think that England is stuck in a class-war, but I reckon it is and Australia is too darn close behind for my liking. 1
Jerry_Atrick Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Over here, the production companies scan the council planning sites for "interesting" planning applications and ones they like, they contact the owners. When we submitted planning for a big reno in London, we were approached by two. One was offering for us to go on a new production where home owners were shown how to do a lot of it themselves and save moeny; the other was a competitor to Grand Designs. We declined both because we like our privacy, and I am not that photogenic. In the first case, we were tempted, as there was something in it for us, but in the other, we get to air the pain and suffering while the production company pockets the cash. No thanks. 1
red750 Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 I know this is getting off the subject of the Orange One, but as we are on tradies, building, delays, etc., here goes. I first posted on Sept 21, 2021 that the house next door was being knocked down to build a new two storey house. The house is still not finished, the neighbours have not moved back in. I think they may have hoped to be in by Christmas, but at the current rate, they will be lucky to be in by Easter. We haven't seen a tradie or others since before Christmas, although houses are progressing in other streets around here. Meanwhile, more builders are going into liquidation leaving houses unfinished. 2
onetrack Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Here we go ... DT is in full flight (of fantasy) once again. According to him, the Ukraine War would never have happened on his watch, and it would be shut down in 24 hrs, if he was Prez - as his smooth dialogue would have stopped Putin in his tracks. I can guarantee one thing - if Trump was still Prez, Putin would be walking all over Ukraine - and Trump would be viciously blasting Zelenskyy and other European leaders, for allowing the war to happen. https://www.newsweek.com/trump-says-he-could-solve-ukraine-war-24-hours-1777298 1 3
facthunter Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 I don't know how the" Friends with Putin" would go down in the US. OUR LAD,Vlad sure thought ALL his Xmasses had come at once when Don got in because Putin thought he had a pushover in Washington. Anyhow the world may now come to an end because the election was stolen. He perhaps should pass on his superior Knowledge still , but you can all die now for not returning him So there!. Nev 2 1
rgmwa Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Should be an interesting spectacle if he isn't the GOP nominee. He will most likely trash whoever is nominated and sink the GOP's chances of winning the next election, irrespective of who becomes the Democrat candidate. Quote Donald J. Trump refused to say he would support the next Republican presidential nominee if it was not him, exposing a potential quagmire along the party’s path toward reclaiming the White House in 2024 and showcasing, once again, the former president’s transactional spin on political loyalty. In a radio interview on Thursday, the conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt asked Mr. Trump if he would support “whoever” wins the party’s nomination next year. Mr. Trump announced his third presidential campaign in November and faces a number of potential Republican challengers. “It would depend,” Mr. Trump said, adding, “It would have to depend on who the nominee was.” 1 2
kgwilson Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Which goes to show that the GOP has millions of complete morons that vote for it. 4
onetrack Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 (edited) That's obviously a Democrat-owned dog. And it probably stole the golf game, too. I've got to admit, that's a pretty neat bit of Photoshopping. Edited February 19, 2023 by onetrack 1
facthunter Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Funny way to "score" at golf. Make an American Dog's Life great again. Trumps the Canadian Mounted Police. Nev 1 2
