This election would be an easy win for the Democrats if they had a good candidate, but all they have at the moment is Biden. Trump may not get the Republican nomination, but if deSantis wins then the US and the rest of the world won't be much better off.  He's too much like Trump.

Trump's lawyer said they've struck a 'no handcuffs' deal with prosecutors for his arrest next week. It's possible he will still be fingerprinted and have his mugshot taken. If so, that mugshot will haunt him forever.

He's no oil painting, whoever photographs him. Just as well he doesn't go  around kissing babies. Republican candidates?? HE reckons HE's got DIRT on all of them. Fine type to be the POTUS again.. Nev

At first, I could "understand" why people voted for Trump. Personally, I would have voted for Hillary, but the "drain the swamp" stuff actually resinated with me. Here was a guy who was going to fight corruption, thought I and I was not that sorry when he won.

Well I was wrong, and these days I am amazed at the residue who still support him, after seeing Trump's true colors.

What gets me is that he is a member of a political party. Why don't they cancel his membership and divorce the Party from him? Our pollies are members of a political party. Those parties have the power - granted by their constitution - to toss out a member for reasons also included in their constitutions. We've seen pollies ousted from their parties. Same goes for your golf club and aero club.

If they ousted him, he could still run as an Independent, but would probably lose the votes of those who traditionally vote for whatever Party he is in now. I reckon that if he had to run as an independent, he'd still be running for 2024 in 2028.

None of them bar Liz Cheney have the guts to try. That's the truth of it.. He then tries to destroy you.  'I've got dirt on all of YOU". That statement alone should indicate what type of person he is and how he operates.  Nev

Because they'd lose the vast majority of his supporters and probably a fair number of their own members in Congress who back him. Then they'd have no hope of winning in 2024, especially because he'd do all he could to trash his former party.  Who would make that move anyway, McConnell?

One of the tings I will say about Trump is that, regretfully, he is in someways an echo of society at the moment. Don't get me wrong - I abhor the man, but the only reason is is doign what he is doing is because he is getting the attention for doing it, and able to preserve it. And people are lapping it up - love him or hate him. Think about it - this is gold for the media that no daytime drama writer could even dream up. Yet for just the cost of a news crew rather than a whole production company, all of the media make lots of money out of it; allies and foes - mainstream and social media. Without him, they were be a lot less adeverising because there would be a lot less eyeballs watching. Hey, we wouldn't be wasting time on it either. But we do. And the average joe and jill are so fascinated by him and his antics, that it snowballs into this great media frenzy that both sides of the political divide profit from.

I could never understand why people watched him on the apprentice, bought the book with his name to it, etc. But they do.

Sadly, he is where he is exactly because the average person in the US and in some respects,t he rest of the world, put him there.

Yes it’s a sad fact that he’d be nothing without an audience and his behaviour and personality are so obnoxious that the audience can’t help watching to find out what happens next.

You're right Jerry. Somehow Trump reminds me of the Kardashians who are famous for being famous, and that's all they have to offer.

Wasn’t it Ivanka who once said “I got my moral compass from my dad”.

At a mid-August fundraiser in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Ivanka Trump was asked to name the personality traits she inherited most from her parents. Without much of a pause, Trump told the crowd of roughly 120 high-end donors that her mother gave her an example of how to be a powerful, successful woman. And her father? He passed onto her his moral compass, she said, according to two event attendees.

Stormy' s  (last) payment was possibly the simplest, most honest business deal of all.

Speaking of honesty, the jaded, cynical Vicar in “The Larkins” is one my favourite characters. He’s honest enough to say what many of them probably think.
