Trump just made another outlandish pledge to voters

Former President Donald Trump vowed to end birthright citizenship in the United States…

Monumental hypocracy:

Just saw a film !.

Lots of ' child ' adopted immigrants,  are being " deported " by a dated loophole.

That says, " if not naturalised '' They are illegal.

But how do they know IF they were certified , as good Americans when they were three year olds .

The film ends with many deportees & prospective people being shown. ( many Korean & Vietnamese).

So , it looks like a " McCarthyism " drive .

Now Trump has been charged by the DOJ with 7 counts of mishandling of classified documents and the obstruction of justice. But of course, according to Trump this is still all a big Democrat beat-up.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-65852062

Personally, I think his most serious charges are yet to come, where in a recorded phone call to the Georgia secretary of state, Brad Raffensperger, he demanded that Raffensperger find another 11,780 votes for him, so he could beat Biden in Georgia.

The charges in that case, means Trump could be criminally liable for making false statements, improperly influencing government officials, forgery in the first degree, and criminal solicitation.

In their constitution there's only three eligibility requirements to run for president - Section 1, Clause 5 of Article II, it states: “No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”

It's a strange system whereby a convicted felon serving a jail sentence can run for office. I read somewhere that a treason conviction would bar him, but I can't see where that's compatible with their constitution. At least the charges will give his opponents some ammunition in the election campaign. On the other hand, Trump will play the victim/witch hunt angle to his supporters. It will come down to how many votes that support translates to.

His first mass email scamming for money went out to his supporters less than an hour after he found out he was indicted. Add to that his Truth Social blitz and it’s clear he’s milking this for all it’s worth.

Looks like WWIII is starting - just not where we thought it would...

https://www.theage.com.au/world/north-america/trump-supporters-unleash-violent-rhetoric-in-his-defence-20230611-p5dfo0.html

(usual paywall beating guidane should suffice - interestingly, nothing on the ABC about it at time of posting.)

The weakening of the focus of the US government on unnecessary domestic turmoil ratcheted up by this bozo is leaving the US more vulnerable and adversaries more emboldened as they figure the US has to spend their resources domestically.

China, for example has reportedly breached the "median" line with fighter aircraft, whcih they say they have done  many times starting this month: https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/taiwan-says-10-chinese-warplanes-cross-straits-median-line-2023-06-11/

Fun times...

Looks like we can sit back and watch another empire implode and a new one arise from the ashes.

If you couple the political unrest in the USA with the global financial and geo-political situation it forecasts an interesting next few years. And we also have to contend with that Mexican bandit, El Nino.

Trouble is, we won’t be sitting back watching from the sidelines: Australia has put most of it’s military eggs in the USA’s basket, so we will be going along for the ride.

Lawn is the least of your worries as a water priority. Sydney like a lot of places has problems  with it. There's too many watering their lawns, hosing their driveways and  washing the car.  Nev

I've been driving home most of the day and have had time to think about what I said yesterday.

I wonder if we are getting the real story out of the USA. Like most things , we are the recipients of whatever the Media chooses to give us. Here in Australia we have no reliable way to make our own enquiries into how widespread is the support for the return of Trump, by whatever means, especially those meas accompanied by violence.

I think that we have to look at the geographic locations of the majority of the supporters of those means. I really can't see the residents of the US North-east, nor of the West Coast joining the fray. One would also have to look at the ethnic divide. Trump wouldn't be too popular at a mariachi festival, nor a New Orleans Jazzfest.

So don't go digging a Victory Garden just yet, and let the chooks range free.

Today Trumps former attorney general William Barr who was once a staunch supporter stated if even half of the indictments are true and can be proven (should be easy as they found the stuff at his house) Trump is Toast. Trump retaliated by calling Barr a "gutless pig" and some of the ultra right wing, mindless, gun toting, nut case, MAGA supporters are calling for civil war.

This is getting interesting & would be hilarious except some of these nutters are serious even extending to a Republican Arizona Congressman stoking the fire.

Unfortunately, the judge appointed to the case, Eileen Cannon, has a track record of siding with Trump, so depending on who she allows on the jury and what she allows to be presented in evidence there’s a good chance he may get away with a slap on the wrist after a year or two of legal argument, appeals and delays. There won’t be a quick result in this case and there’s a good chance that the jury will include a fair number of Trump supporters who won’t want to find him guilty.
