My wife has been poorly for quite a while, so I make sure that I do my best with the housework. The other day she enquired (ie asked for out of simple curiosity) what I was going to do that day.

 

I said, "I was planning on doing the vacuuming and dusting."

 

She said, "But you don't put things back in the right place when you dust."

 

I said, "That's because when I dust, the area that wasn't dusty under things isn't there anymore to mark the spot."

 

I thought that was a reasonable explanation.
