Space- based versions have been proposed, but thisย greenie would campaign against them; too many of natureโs critters would have their whole daily/seasonal rhythms buggered up by such a big change in light conditions. 1

nomadpete Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 The Grammer Police should approve of this.... I hope. 2 1
old man emu Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 ย The above image is approved by the Commissioner of Grammar Police for continued exhibition. Interesting point: Is it commissioner "for", or commissioner "of"?ย ย 1 1

old man emu Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 It's hard to find a definition of "commissioner" which includesย either "of" or "for". The definitions using "of" or "for" are hard to find.ย Aย commissionerย is an individual who has been given aย commissionย (official charge or authority) to do something. In that sense it is a title, in much the same way as the officer ranks of the military.ย ย So, for example, the person commissioned to control the police is the Commissioner for Police. Which is odd, because the lower officer ranks use the form "of Police". ย I think this one should be let go through to the Keeper. Common usage involving "of" probably overrides the more accurate "for". 2
nomadpete Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 As far as we are concerned, we gift you the continued authority to act as our Grammar Police representative. ย So there! 1 1

willedoo Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 The Russians are going back to the moon this year, for the first time since the 1970's. The Luna 25 lander is scheduled for lift off in July 2022 on a Soyuz-2.1b rocket with a Fregat upper stage. Emphasis is on finding water with the landing area of the lunar south pole region offering the highest chances of success.ย 2 1
Marty_d Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 I think the Chinese, Indians and even Israelis have done moon shots recently, but none manned.
willedoo Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 The Russian Proton-M heavy-lift launch vehicles will cease production this year. They have ten stockpiled and four still under construction. They're being replaced with the more eco friendly Angara launch vehicle.

Green coal? ย ย It's not a weapon, Jerry. More like a space truck. To cart supplies to the ISS and deploy satellites. You might be confusing it with ICBM's. ย The problem with the Proton is the unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine fuel. The Angara uses liquid oxygen and kerosene, not as polluting as the Proton. ย Edited January 16, 2022 by willedoo 1
