You can speak for yourself  Nev.

But all my flex and sliding  joints were lubricated for life, but they have run out of lubricant  and the joints are failing. There is no provision to relube. An obvious design oversight.

No, the frame is not carrying the working loads.

Engineer's are OK, It's architects you have to watch for. They draw shapes with no idea how they are going to be structured or cladded..  Nev

I remember years ago working with some blocklayers building a three story set of units. They were complaining about the architect who had drawn plans with no regard to dimensions of laid block and brickwork. Every course, they had to cut a block to an unusual length on the wet saw. Time consuming to do it. You would think an architect designing cement block buildings would take the time to find out how many you can fit into a certain length.

It's beneath them. Thats for the Plebs to ponder over. People who quote for cladding make the same errors. Nev

And that explains why to great pyramid slopes in toward the top!

When I was building a house in Alice Springs, the tradies behind were building several. They would stay away for weeks and then 6 or so would work hard for a day or so.

The tradie who put in the hip ends on the house just close to us made a big mistake....  he just put ONE pencil mark on where the hip trusses should go.

The next guys put the trusses on the wrong side of the mark. All those who came after had to spend time bodging it up. They were going to kill the guy who stuffed up to start.

One day, the guy who put the pencil mark wrong was back again.....  " Whose Effing paying!" was the cry. They were sure time conscious ( where they were being paid piecework ) . I loved it.

Back to climate, a worrying recent discovery:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/science/2023-07-21/greenland-ice-core-secret-us-army-base-reveals-dramatic-melting/102609654?utm_campaign=abc_news_web_vertical_share&utm_content=link&utm_medium=content_shared&utm_source=abc_news_web

The only upside I can see is that so many climate change deniers have flocked to Florida and other beachside locations. Their investments will be under water within a few decades. Do they care about their children?

I went to a parenting course once, turned out to be presented by some Salvos.  One of the mums asked the trainer if she had kids of her own.

"No, my husband and I haven't been blessed with children yet," she said,  "But we're praying!"

I didn't say anything but thought "Maybe try sex instead..."

I hear that when it comes to making babies, churches rely more on the actions of god than husbands
