The climate change debate continues.

True Nev. We have bicycles at our kid’s place, 15km from the briney, and they corrode fast! Same for my mate’s collection of motorcycles, which will double in size when we relocate his cousin’s bikes to Lismore.

The most effective anti-corrosion regime I’ve seen was in Cairns, where heaps of historic racers are housed in an old cold store; the air-con reduces moisture in the air.

I was reading somethign about it the other day; but can't find it now; and to be honest, I can't recall too much about it But, apparently, ti was quite cold a year ago: https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2022/jun/23/if-global-heating-is-a-thing-why-is-so-called-right-now-weather

I wouldn't get too complacent about Australia being protected from climate change:

https://australian.museum/learn/climate-change/climate-change-impacts/

https://www.csiro.au/en/research/environmental-impacts/climate-change/climate-change-information

Or with a little more dramatic effect:

On it being a hoax, well, the ecology of earth loves to be in on a hoax, it seems...

I've watched a couple of videos recently dealing with global weather. Obviously due to audience numbers they are focused on the Northern Hemisphere, but this one does deal with the whole globe. It is talking about the Earth's atmospheric circulation system.

While we are preparing for the a very dry Summer, the Northern Hemisphere has suffered the effect of an El Niño event.

What puzzles me is the Northern Hemisphere weather agencies - particularly NOAA - have recently produced definitive statements that an El Nino event is for the Pacific is in progress.

But the BOM doesn't agree, and is "fence-sitting", stating the current level of El Nino is at "Alert" - and saying there is a "possibility" that an El Nino MAY develop later in the year.

So it appears to me that even major weather forecasters can't agree on what is happening as regards climatic events. And to me, part of this problem is that they're all examining weather every day to try and find the climate for the decade. Climate is an average - and the definition of climate is - "the average weather conditions of a particular place over a 30 year period ".

Climate records are full of historical events that show there are extremes of weather over various periods of time. A few hot years doesn't make for a major climatic shift, and a few dry years doesn't make for a mega-drought. 1933 to 1936 were record-breaking hot years, too - but it didn't mean the climate was altering on a large scale.

The scientific evidence is not relying on individual events. Whether it be sea temperature or surface temperature the temperature has risen and the rate is increasing.   High-temperature records are being broken more often.

Sea temperature in Florida reaches 38C - potentially a world record,  Note - I linked to a conservative news source not a lefty source.

Heat records are broken around the globe as Earth warms — and fast

When people use the term hoax I tend to think of them like people who say "moon landing hoax.

How would such a hoax operate in practice?

NASA - Hi there JAXA we are about to post some made-up satellite temperature measurements and we wanted to make sure you backed us up by manipulating data from your satellites. Better all ESA too.

Emerging communique's from Oil companies prove THEY too knew about it long ago. Insurance Companies KNOW. Where are the Glaciers getting bigger?  When the Himalayan snow ( known as the 3rd Pole) melts the declining water from it will put in Jeopardy  3 Biilion + lives.  Nev

It is hard to deny that fuel companies knew about the dangers of CO2 from burning fuels.  They knew it and publicly admitted it years ago although privately put money into campaigns to deny the science. This is much the same as tobacco companies.

In those at-risk countries are enough boats and ships to carry millions in our direction.

It’s far too late to argue about the science. The court of world opinion is gonna be very hard on the Lucky Country.

We’re seen as a rich, empty land and will be blamed for doing more than our share to cause this disaster.
